The therapeutic efficacy of Fenton or Fenton-like nanocatalysts is usually restricted by the inappropriate pH value and limited concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) at the tumor site. Herein, calcium carbonate (CaCO3 )-mineralized cobalt silicate hydroxide hollow nanocatalysts (CSO@CaCO3 , CC) were synthesized and loaded with curcumin (CCC). This hybrid system can simultaneously realize nanocatalytic therapy, chemotherapy and calcium overload. With the stabilization of liposomes, CCC is able to reach the tumor site smoothly...

Europium ion-activated calcium silicate phosphors (Ca2 SiO4 :Eu3+ ) with sharp red-light emission were fabricated via the hydrothermal method. The size of Ca2 SiO4 :Eu3+ phosphors was controlled between 20 and 200 nm by precursor silicate particle sizes. Systematic studies to determine morphology, crystal phase, and photoluminescence (PL) were carried out for all the phosphors, and their optical efficiencies were compared. We found that the luminescence intensity and emission wavelength of Ca2 SiO4 :Eu3+ phosphors depend on their particle sizes...

AIM: To enhance mineral trioxide aggregate high plasticity (MTA HP), a commonly used dental calcium silicate cement, by incorporating selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The objectives included investigating the impact of SeNPs on the setting time and chemical properties of MTA HP. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a comprehensive study to formulate and profile SeNPs integrated into MTA HP. Diverse concentrations of SeNPs were introduced into MTA HP, and the commencement and culmination of the setting process were gauged employing a Gillmore needle cabinet...

This study presents an approach for synthesizing Eu2+ /Eu3+ -coactivated Ca2 SiO4 nanophosphors, by adjusting the ratio of both activators within a singular host material. Utilizing a hydrothermal method complemented by a postreduction sintering process, we fabricated a series of phosphors characterized by uniform 30-50 nm spherical nanoparticles. These engineered phosphors manifest multichannel luminescence properties and exhibit simultaneous blue and red emission from Eu2+ and Eu3+ , respectively. Meticulous control of the 5% H2 -95% N2 reduction temperature allowed for precise tuning of the Eu2+ and Eu3+ ions within the host lattice, which enabled the strategic adjustment of their luminescent outputs...

Among the wet chemical nanoparticle fabrication techniques, the sol-gel process happens through hydrolysis and subsequent polycondensation reactions. The bioactive glass known as the 45S5 SiO2 -Na2 O-CaO-P2 O5 quaternary system has intricate chemistry, yet its advantages benefit the biomedical field on an enormous scale. The order in which the ethanol and TEOS inclusions are exchanged was investigated in this work because it has a direct impact on the early hydrolysis process. Another strategy involves adding phosphate species to the sol before gelation, modifying the network chemistry, and interpreting the findings...

Calcium silicate-based cement (CSC) is a commonly used material in endodontic treatment. However, it has limited antibacterial activity, especially for cases involving primary infections. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) are recognized for their potential in biomedical applications due to their antibacterial properties and ability to reduce inflammation. This study aims to optimize CSC by incorporating ZnO-NPs to maintain its physical properties, enhance its antibacterial activity, and reduce the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines...

Since currently used natural, nonrenewable phosphorus resources are estimated to be depleted in the next 30-200 years, phosphorus recovery from any phosphorus-rich residues has attracted great interest. In this study, phosphorus recovery from complex wastewater samples was investigated using continuous adsorption on cryogel column composited calcium silicate hydrate nanoparticles (CSH columns). The results showed that 99.99% of phosphate was recovered from a synthetic water sample (50 mg L-1 ) using a 5 cm CSH column with a 5 mL min-1 influent flow rate for 6 h while 82...

Root canal treatment represents a significant challenge as current cleaning and disinfection methodologies fail to remove persistent bacterial biofilms within the intricate anatomical structures. Recently, the field of nanotechnology has emerged as a promising frontier with numerous biomedical applications. Among the most notable contributions of nanotechnology are nanoparticles, which possess antimicrobial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Nanoparticles cause the destructuring of bacterial walls, increasing the permeability of the cell membrane, stimulating the generation of reactive oxygen species, and interrupting the replication of deoxyribonucleic acid through the controlled release of ions...
