Surgery for Diseases of the Aortic Root.
Cardiology Clinics 2017 August
The aortic root is the junction between the heart and aorta, containing the aortic valve and the coronary artery ostia. These include aneurysmal dilatation with and without aortic regurgitation, acute aortic dissection extending below the sinotubular junction, and infective endocarditis with valve and periannular destruction. Multiple strategies for correction of these complex surgical issues exist, with excellent early results and long-term survival.
