PURPOSE: When the intermediate or collicular fascicle of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) is injured, the diagnosis of posttraumatic medial ankle instability (MAI) is supported. The aim of this study was to describe an arthroscopic all-inside MCL repair after posttraumatic MAI secondary to an isolated injury of the MCL deep fascicle with a knotless suture anchor technique. METHODS: Seven patients (seven men, median age: 23 [19-28] years) with posttraumatic MAI were treated by arthroscopic means after failing nonoperative management...

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) has a poor prognosis and high relapse rates despite current therapies, necessitating novel treatment regimens. Inhibition of SRC-3 show effectiveness in vivo and in vitro in other B cell lymphomas. Additionally, previous studies have shown that SRC-3 is highly expressed in the lymph nodes of B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients, suggesting SRC-3 may play a role in the progression of B cell lymphoma. This study aimed to investigate novel SRC-3 inhibitors, SI-10 and SI-12, in mantle cell lymphoma...

The therapy of relapsed or refractory (r/r) mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) patients remains a major clinical challenge to date. We conducted a randomized, open-label, parallel-group phase-III trial hypothesizing superior efficacy of rituximab, high-dose cytarabine and dexamethasone with bortezomib (R-HAD + B) versus without (R-HAD) in r/r MCL ineligible for or relapsed after autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). Primary endpoint was time to treatment failure (TTF), secondary endpoints included response rates, progression free survival, overall survival, and safety...

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is an uncommon and incurable B-cell lymphoma subtype that has an aggressive course. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has been associated with an increased risk for B-cell lymphomas, and is characterized by distinct clinical and genetic features. Here, we showed that 9.5% of MCL Chinese patients were hepatitis B surface antigen positive (HBsAg+ ). Compared to HBsAg-negative (HBsAg- ) patients, HBsAg+ MCL patients had a greater incidence of elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), but no difference was observed in the other clinical characteristics, including sex, age, ECOG ps, Ann Arbor stage, MIPI, extranodal involvement and Ki-67...

In recent years, polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) have gained notoriety because of their desirable properties that include proven biodegradability, biocompatibility, and thermal stability, which make them suitable alternatives to fossil-based polymers. However, the widespread use of PHAs is still challenging because of their production costs, which are greatly associated with the cultivation medium used for bacterial cultivation. In Portugal, one-quarter of the forest area is covered by Eucalyptus globulus wood, making its residues a cheap, abundant, and sustainable potential carbon source for biotechnological uses...

Obinutuzumab (O) and Rituximab (R) are two CD antibodies that have never been compared in a prospective randomised trial in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Herein, we report the long-term outcome of the LYMA-101 (NCT02896582) trial, in which newly diagnosed MCL patients were treated with chemotherapy plus O before transplantation followed by O maintenance (O group). We then compared these patients to those treated with the same treatment design with Rituximab instead of O (R group) (NCT00921414). A propensity score matching (PSM) was used to compare the two populations (O vs R groups) in terms of MRD at the end of induction (EOI), PFS and OS...

Epiglottitis is an uncommon condition in adults, and recurrent episodes are rare. We report a 58-year-old male who had a second episode of epiglottitis nine years after his first. Our patient's immunologic profile obtained during his hospitalization revealed a significantly low absolute cluster of differentiation 4+ (CD4+) T lymphocyte count of 77 cells/mcL and a low immunoglobulin G (IgG) level of 635 mg/dL. Our patient was successfully managed with broad-spectrum antibiotics and corticosteroids. Given the known ability of short-term corticosteroids and acute inflammation's effect on lymphocyte populations, the significance of these laboratory values remains unclear due to our patient's unwillingness to undergo further diagnostic testing following discharge from our facility...

Platinum resistance remains a major contributor to the poor prognosis of ovarian cancer. Anti-apoptotic protein myeloid cell leukemia-1 (MCL-1) has emerged as a promising target for overcoming drug resistance, but different cancer cells utilize distinct protein degradation pathways to alter MCL-1 level. We systematically investigated E3 ligases to identify novel candidates that mediate platinum resistance in ovarian cancer. Transcription Elongation Factor B (TCEB3) has been identified as a novel E3 ligase recognition subunit that targets MCL-1 in the cytoplasm during platinum treatment other than its traditional function of targeting the Pol II in the nuclear compartment...

Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a fatal haematopoietic malignancy and is treated with the conventional combination of cytarabine (Ara-C) and daunorubicin (Dau). The survival rate of AML patients is lower due to the cardiotoxicity of daunorubicin. Clinically, homoharringtonine (HHT) plus Ara-C has been reported to be equally effective as Dau plus Ara-C in some types of AML patients with less toxic effects. Long-term Video Question Answering (VideoQA) is a challenging vision-and-language bridging task focusing on semantic understanding of untrimmed long-term videos and diverse free-form questions, simultaneously emphasizing comprehensive cross-modal reasoning to yield precise answers. The canonical approaches often rely on off-the-shelf feature extractors to detour the expensive computation overhead, but often result in domain-independent modality-unrelated representations. Furthermore, the inherent gradient blocking between unimodal comprehension and cross-modal interaction hinders reliable answer generation...

Using petroleum-derived plastics has contributed significantly to environmental issues, such as greenhouse gas emissions and the accumulation of plastic waste in ecosystems. Researchers have focused on developing ecofriendly polymers as alternatives to traditional plastics to address these concerns. This review provides a comprehensive overview of medium-chain-length polyhydroxyalkanoates (mcl-PHAs), biodegradable biopolymers produced by microorganisms that show promise in replacing conventional plastics. The review discusses the classification, properties, and potential substrates of less studied mcl-PHAs, highlighting their greater ductility and flexibility compared to poly(3-hydroxybutyrate), a well-known but brittle PHA...
