Cutaneous immune-related adverse events encompass a spectrum of dermatological manifestations, including lichenoid reactions, psoriasiform eruptions, eczematous dermatitis, immunobullous disorders, granulomatous reactions, pruritus, vitiligo, and severe cutaneous adverse reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome. The conventional approach to treating high-grade or refractory cutaneous immune-related adverse events has involved high-dose systemic corticosteroids. However, their use is limited owing to the potential disruption of antitumor responses and associated complications...

Grover's disease, also known as transient acantholytic dermatosis (TAD), currently has no published randomized control trials regarding the treatment of the disease; thus, evidence for treatment is largely derived from case studies and case reports. In this case series, we summarize the current treatment options for Grover's disease and discuss two cases of refractory Grover's disease treated with low-dose oral isotretinoin in patients who previously failed to reach clearance with multiple treatment options...

Grover's disease (GD) is a rare skin condition that presents as a pruritic, erythematous papular, or papulovesicular rash. We report a unique case of GD triggered by honeybee stings. An 80-year-old Caucasian male presented with a pruritic papulovesicular rash on his trunk and arms after being stung by honeybees. He had a history of honeybee venom allergy and developed immediate erythema at the sting sites, which progressed over two days. His laboratory tests were unremarkable, including a complete blood count and comprehensive metabolic profile...

We present a 65-year-old woman who developed a diffuse pruritic papular eruption after receiving induction chemotherapy with daunorubicin and cytarabine for newly diagnosed acute myelomonocytic leukemia. The rash improved clinically with triamcinolone treatment and chemotherapy was allowed to continue. This case adds to the growing literature of transient acantholytic dermatosis development in the setting of anti-cancer therapy and emphasizes the importance of clinicopathologic correlation in cutaneous eruptions in cancer patients...

Grover's disease (GD), also known as Transient acantholytic dermatosis, has no typical clinical rash features. It usually occurs in elderly white men but very rarely in China. This is a disease of acantholysis and dyskeratosis, which is usually considered to be spontaneous remission. The skin lesions of the disease are diverse, and the main symptom is severe itching. We have reported a case of GD in a 14-year-old Chinese Tibetan male whose clinical manifestations were pruritic red papule, generalized red papules, papulo vesicles and blisters ranging from millet rice to soybean size...

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) pemphigus, also known as intercellular IgA dermatosis, is a rare autoimmune bullous disease presenting with IgA anti-keratinocyte cell surface autoantibodies. Concomitant lymphoproliferative disorders have been reported in IgA pemphigus, including IgA monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance and IgA type multiple myeloma (MM). A 35-year-old Japanese woman with a 3-year history of pruritic papulovesicles on her lower legs and trunk was referred to our department. Histopathological examination revealed acantholytic blisters, and results of both direct and indirect immunofluorescence were negative...

We report on a 69-year-old man who presented with itching and erythematous papules on his torso and extremities, which were resistant to topical therapy with antibiotics and steroids. Physical examination revealed multiple erythematous papules on his back, neckline, and lower extremities. The lesions had appeared 4 years earlier and usually worsened with heat or extensive sweating. Histopathology of previous skin biopsies had shown multiple cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas or was non-conclusive. Thus, a re-biopsy was performed, revealing acanthosis and focal acantholytic dyskeratosis...

Transient acantholytic dermatosis (TAD) is a benign, non-familial, non-immune mediated acantholytic disorder of unknown etiology. The presence of polymorphous, unorganized, pruritic lesions on the trunk, associated with focal acantholysis and dyskeratosis, resembles a wide variety of dermatoses. The etiology of TAD (also known as Grover's disease) is unknown, and the success of treatment relies on the correct identification of the disease; however, some cases are refractory to all forms of therapy. For accurate diagnosis, a comprehensive literature review is required...

Cutaneous forms of tuberculosis are rare, comprising about 1-1.5% of all cases, and show a wide range of clinical manifestations. Here we present a case of a patient with left cervical ulcerated lymphadenopathy associated with a violaceous plaque in the area of the manubrium of sternum. We performed a biopsy of the plaque for histopathology, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to test for mycobacteria and a smear of the ulcerated lymph node. Histopathology results showed a dermal infiltrate consisting of epithelioid granulomas without necrosis, PCR was negative, and the culture was positive for M...

A 66-year-old male presented with a one-month history of persistent pruritic eruptions distributed mainly on the trunk. A punch biopsy from the left upper abdomen revealed focal acantholytic dyskeratosis with mixed inflammatory infiltrate in the dermis composed of numerous eosinophils. Grover's disease was diagnosed based on the clinical and histopathological findings. Appropriate treatment was initiated but failed to relieve symptoms of itchiness. A further investigation of the hair follicles under mineral oil preparation revealed an infestation of pediculosis pubis...

INTRODUCTION: Transient acantholytic dermatosis has been frequently reported in patients with malignancies. While paraneoplastic cases have rarely been reported, most eruptions occur in the setting of chemotherapeutic agents. Management is based on limited data and primarily with topical steroids and topical emollients. A subset of patients exhibits recalcitrant disease and require alternate therapeutic approachesMethods: This systematic review consisted of identifying records in PubMed using the medical subject headings (MeSH) terms “chemotherapy” AND “Grover”, “chemotherapy” AND “Grover’s”, “cancer” AND “Grover”, “cancer” AND “Grover’s”, “malignancy” AND “Grover”, “malignancy” AND “Grover’s”, as well as a free text search for “Grover” OR “Grover’s” OR “Grover disease” OR “Grovers disease” OR “Grover’s disease” OR “transient acantholytic dermatosis” OR “transient acantholytic” to identify case reports, case series, systematic reviews, review articles, meta-analyses, clinical trials, brief commentaries, and original articles...

Grover's disease (GD) is an itchy acantholytic disorder occurring on the trunk of middle-aged men. Based on the best evidence, this study aimed to provide a summary of the clinical characteristics, disease course and treatments of GD. A systematic review was performed according to PRISMA guidelines for original articles published between 01.01.1970-08.15.2019, assessing clinical features and/or any type of intervention for GD. A total of 263 articles were retrieved, and 116 original reports that were deemed relevant and satisfied the inclusion criteria were included in the analysis (88 case reports, 26 case series and two retrospective reviews)...

Grover disease (GD) is an acquired, nonfamilial, nonimmune mediated, transient or persistent acantholytic dermatosis. Herein, we present a 72-year-old man who had clinical and histopathologic findings of GD following two weeks of treatment with vemurafenib without MEK inhibitor. The patient was successfully treated with topical emollients and a high-potency corticosteroid. Meanwhile, vemurafenib was temporarily discontinued. Drug-induced GD has increasingly been reported in patients on BRAF inhibitor monotherapy as an immune-related adverse event...

Transient acantholytic dermatosis (TAD) is a relatively common entity that has been also noted to occur in patients with cancer. Herein, we describe a case of transient acantholytic dermatosis occurring in a patient with a history of prostate cancer status post radiation, now being treated with combination therapy with pembrolizumab and carboplatin-pemetrexed for advanced lung adenocarcinoma. Our case emphasizes the importance of being cognizant of TAD and its associations, particularly in cancer patients.

Dear Editor, Grover's disease, also known as transient acantholytic dermatosis, is an idiopathic and acquired pruritic eruption of small vesicles and erythematous papules, classically on the central chest. The pathogenesis is not clearly defined, although heat sweating and occlusion have been interpreted as predisposing factors. We describe a case of monolateral acantholytic eruption with blaschkoid distribution in a patient treated with an orthopedic bandage for a shoulder injury. A 53-years-old man was referred to the dermatologic department because of an acute eruption of pruritic, discrete, pinkish grey papulovesicles, developed on the right side of the trunk 14 days after the positioning of an orthopedic bandage for a shoulder injury...
