SOx emissions are primarily caused by compounds containing sulfur in petroleum and fuels, which lead to severe air pollution. For this reason, it is necessary to develop a fast and simple desulfurization method in order to comply with ever-increasing environmental regulations. The newly discovered piezo-catalyst nanocomposite Cex Oy /SrO can convert mechanical energy directly into chemical energy, thereby enabling mechanically oxidative sulfur desulfurization. 320 W of bath sonication were used to polarize and activate the prepared piezo-catalyst nanocomposite Cex Oy /SrO for sulfur removal from thiophene and dibenzothiophene as model fuels and kerosene as a real fuel...

The present study aimed to analyze and establish an effective combination of ultrasound and immersion pretreatment processes for drying Taikor (Garcinia pendunculata Roxb.) fruits. Taikorslices were first immersed in 10 % sucrose, fructose, and glucose solution. Then, the immersed slices were treated in an ultrasonic bath at 30 °C for 10, 20, and 30 min. Drying operations were carried out at 50, 60, and 70 °C, with a fixed relative humidity of 30 %. The Page, Newton, Henderson and Pabis, and Weibull distribution models were fitted to the obtained drying data to determine the best kinetic model that effectively describes the drying properties ofTaikor...

Natural resource-driven approaches to bioengineering plastics are being developed to compete in the automobiles, power, and other sectors. Polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) is a particular of them, and it was chosen for the current investigation to build an advanced nanocomposite material. Using a twin-screw micro compounder, injection moulded PTT/Graphene-Oxide (GO)/Carboxyl functionalized Multiwall Carbon nanotube (f-MWCNT) hybrid nanocomposites were prepared. The impact of GO and f-MWCNT reinforcement on the composite's thermal and mechanical characteristics of hybrid nanocomposites was examined...

The patch-clamp technique has revolutionized neurophysiology by allowing to study single neuronal excitability, synaptic connectivity, morphology, and the transcriptomic profile. However, the throughput in recordings is limited because of the manual replacement of patch-pipettes after each attempt which are often also unsuccessful. This has been overcome by automated cleaning the tips in detergent solutions, allowing to reuse the pipette for further recordings. Here, we developed a novel method of automated cleaning by sonicating the tips within the bath solution wherein the cells are placed, reducing the risk of contaminating the bath solution or internal solution of the recording pipette by any detergent and avoiding the necessity of a separate chamber for cleaning...

The effects of H2 O2 -assisted ultrasonic bath degradation technology on pectin were investigated. The degradation efficiency with different pectin concentrations, H2 O2 concentrations, ultrasonic power, and ultrasonic time was analyzed. The results showed that pectin concentration was negatively correlated with the degradation efficiency of pectin, while, H2 O2 concentration, ultrasonic power, and ultrasonic time were positive correlated with the degradation efficiency. Besides, the apparent viscosity and viscoelasticity of the degraded pectin decreased significantly...

This study aimed to extract collagen-I from lamb feet (LF) and examine the effects of ultrasound treatment on the structural and molecular characteristics of the collagen. Compared to ultrasonic bath treatment and conventional extraction methods, ultrasonic probe (USP) treatment significantly increased the collagen content of the extract (p < 0.05). The electrophoretic profiles confirmed the presence of α- and β-chains, indicating it as type I. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and circular dichroism spectra analyses revealed that the extraction method did not adversely affect the triple helix structure of the collagen...

Liposomes are microspheres produced by placing phospholipids in aqueous solutions. Liposomes have the advantage of being able to encapsulate both hydrophilic and hydrophobic functional substances and are thus important mediators used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It is important for liposomes to have small sizes, uniform particle size distribution, and long-term stability. Previously, liposomes have been prepared using a homo mixer, microfluidizer, and horn and bath types of sonicators. However, it is difficult to produce liposomes with small sizes and uniform particle size distribution using these methods...
