Neurofibromas are common nerve sheath tumors, occurring either sporadically or associated with Von Recklinghausen's disease. Only 6.5% of solitary lesions are seen to involve the oral cavity without any features of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1). It presents as a soft, skin-colored nodule with a characteristic buttonhole invagination. Histologically, it is an unencapsulated lesion consisting of proliferated neural elements, with a background of mucin and mast cells. Surgical excision is the treatment of choice...

Mammary Paget's disease (MPD) is a rare form of pruritic eczematous skin lesion involving the nipple areola complex usually associated with an underlying in-situ or invasive carcinoma of breast, accounting ≤ 4% of overall breast carcinoma. The patient may present with nipple discharge, eczema, plaque, or nipple destruction with or without a lump which is resistant to common remedies. Diagnosis of MPD is usually accomplished by a punch biopsy, but imprint cytology is found to be an effective modern technique yet less explored...

Objective: To date, little effort has been devoted to summarizing worldwide research trends in sunscreen publications. The present study aimed to quantitatively analyze research trends in sunscreen publications over the past period from 2010 to 2020. Materials and Methods: The required bibliometric information was extracted and downloaded from the Scopus database. Documents including the keywords "Sunscreen" and "Sunscreens" were extracted from the database. A total of 1466 articles were retrieved from the database as on May 14, 2021...

Fat injection has been in application for more than two decades, and its usefulness has been well documented. In our article, we want to highlight the various applications and usefulness of this versatile technique. We also want to showcase the methods to ensure good results and maximize the uptake of fat grafts with minimal absorption. Our results in our series of 110 consecutive cases have been very encouraging, with excellent patient satisfaction.

Background: Facial bite injuries can cause functional, emotional, and psychological distress to the victim. Dog bites are the most commonest injuries of all mammalian bites. We as oral and maxillofacial surgeons have reported a case of 75-year-old man with a dog bite injury on his face. Step-wise management of the wound and required anti-rabies therapy has been discussed. Materials and Methods: The patient was immediately given anti-rabies prophylaxis and thorough debridement of the wound was done with various antiseptic solutions...

Retronychia is an uncommon type of ingrown nail characterized by ingrowing of the proximal nail plate into the proximal nail fold (PNF), inciting cycles of inflammation. The condition can be symptomatic due to swelling and inflammation of the PNF, but most often it is noticed because of a proximal thickening of the nail plate and the failure of nail to grow distally. It usually affects the great toenails of young females, commonly due to recurrent trauma and footwear-related issues. This condition is difficult to recognize in the initial stages and often requires surgical management when the nail plate becomes significantly impacted...

BACKGROUND: Posttraumatic facial scars are not only unaesthetic but also have a negative sociopsychological impact. Surgeons constantly try to achieve the most aesthetic scar by various suturing methods. The tensile forces acting on the edges of the wound during healing are a major factor in determining the final appearance of a scar. AIM: Injecting botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) locally to produce temporary muscular paralysis to relieve the tensile forces acting on suture line, thus improving the appearance of the scar...

A simple technique of using a dental burr to sharpen a follicular unit extraction (FUE) punch for hair transplant surgery is used. During the process of extraction in FUE, the sharpness of a punch plays a vital role in reducing transection rates and thus increasing the yield of harvested grafts. Every time a sharp punch loses its sharpness, its expensive to replace it, hence we have described an ingenious technique to reuse a punch innumerable times, thus reducing the financial burden for the surgeon and the patient...

BACKGROUND: In the recent years, there has been a significant rise in the number of men seeking rejuvenating procedures. The development of minimally invasive, non-surgical, office-based procedures without minimal downtime has stimulated a fresh interest among men who may seek cosmetic treatment to increase competitiveness and appear youthful in the workplace. It is important to understanding the differences in facial features in men and women to achieve more natural results and to reduce the risk of feminizing the male's face...

Subcutaneous phycomycosis is a rare saprophytic fungal infection. We herein report a case of subcutaneous phycomycosis with stony hard swelling on the chest wall as an unusual site of infection. Diagnosis was made based on the clinical, histopathological, and culture studies. Oral treatment with itraconazole resulted in rapid resolution of lesion.

The psychology behind an aesthetic procedure needs to be understood and assessed by the attending cosmetologist for the satisfactory outcome of the procedure. Being alert about certain psychiatric conditions can help in deferring certain procedures, which prevent us from correcting something that is actually not required and will protect us from future trouble. The incorporation of the user-friendly body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) screening questionnaire in preaesthetic procedure workup as a routine can help in excluding psychologically unstable patients, who can be a contraindication for conducting the procedure per se...

CONTEXT: Confluent reticulated papillomatosis (CRP), terra-firme-forme-dermatitis (TFFD), and dermatitis neglecta (DN) are the benign, acquired conditions that present with dirty-looking hyperpigmented and hyperkeratosis lesions on neck, back, and truncal areas. They pose difficulty in diagnosis because of their clinical similarities and thereby in treatment approaches. Bedside test and histopathology is helpful in the diagnosis. BACKGROUND: Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) can be categorized as one of the commonly occurring skin malignancies in the world, with several variations in treatment protocols. Sun exposure has been attributed to its causality; however, other factors such as gender, age, and occupation also affect its incidence. We aimed to characterize the patient population who underwent surgical management for facial BCC at a tertiary referral hospital. Further, we have described an algorithm that may aid in surgical decision-making based on the location of the lesions on the face...

Retiform hemangioendothelioma (RH) is a rare vascular neoplasm with intermediate malignant potential mostly occurring in extremities. It is important to differentiate this neoplasm from malignant conditions as RH has a good prognosis. As it has a tendency to recur locally, it may be misdiagnosed as a malignant tumor. Herein, we report a rare case of RH occurring in the medial canthus.

Keystone island flaps have a growing array of applications in reconstructive surgeries for the closure of simple and complex defects following the excision of skin tumors. It is a trapezoidal-shaped flap based on fasciocutaneous perforators. We share our experience with a 79-year-old man, who underwent keystone island flap reconstruction after the excision of biopsy-proven Bowen's disease. A good aesthetic and functional outcome was obtained. With an ever expanding repertoire of reconstructive surgical techniques, the individualization of defect closure is of paramount importance in ensuring good cosmesis...

BACKGROUND: Vitiligo is the most common depigmenting dermatosis causing immense psychosocial concern. When medical therapies fail to cause re-pigmentation, surgical modalities are developed to combat the same in stable vitiligo patients. Here we are comparing two such surgeries: smash skin grafting (SSG) and autologous non-cultured epidermal cell suspension (NCES). AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The aim of this article is to compare the efficacy of SSG and NCES in re-pigmentation of stable vitiligo and to know the feasibility of both the surgeries...
