OBJECTIVE: Define the modes of procedure of the Deductive Care Methodology (DCM) in the generation of knowledge about person's health care. METHODOLOGY: Design and test of the DCM modes based on three phases: mapping of the MDC, generation of models from this methodology and testing of the models through studies in a clinical context. RESULTS: The MDC presents five levels of abstraction with three modes broken down to 16 types. The modes are: Philosophical Mode to conceptualize and obtain generalities about reality, Mathematical Mode to operate with generalities, and Physical Mode to operationally verify, validating the results and the predictive capacity of the model...

OBJECTIVE: Differences in patients and nurses' perceptions of caring behaviors arouse patient dissatisfaction. Continuous monitoring and assessment of caring behaviors has revealed its problems, and this in turn would promote care services by planning rational interventions and removing the problems. The present study aimed to compare nurses and elderly patients' perceptions of nurses' caring behaviors in intensive care units in accordance with Watson's transpersonal caring theory. METHODS: In this descriptive-analytical study, 70 nurses were selected using the census method, and 70 elderly patients over 60 years old were also selected using purposive sampling method from the intensive care units of Lorestan University of Medical Sciences during 2012-2013...

INTRODUCTION: Palliative care competence is one of the competencies that must be possessed by generalist nurses. For this reason, strategies for developing palliative care learning models need to be carried out to ensure nursing students have palliative care competencies. Therefore, this study was structured to develop a transformation theory-based palliative care learning model that prioritizes the active participation of students to deal with palliative care in future practice. METHODS: This study was a cross-sectional study involving 189 nursing students as participants...

Theoretical model for treating behavioural aspects of urinary incontinence SINOPSIS This reflective article presents a theoretical model of behavioural evaluation and intervention for women with urinary incontinence. Nola Pender's health promotion model (HPM) was used as a reference to develop this proposal. Behavioural measures were identified to build the model: constipation control, bladder training, urination position, reduction of irritating drinks, water intake, and pelvic floor muscle training. Next, specific actions were defined to investigate and intervene on certain behavioural aspects: previous related behaviour, personal factors, benefits, and obstacles regarding the proposed action, perceived self-efficacy, feelings related to the expected behaviour and the proposed action, interpersonal and situational influences, commitment to the action plan, competitive demands, and health promotion behaviour...

Objective: this study explores the process of the development of an intention to leave bedside nursing. Method: the process was studied from the perspective of 21 nurses using the grounded theory method. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews and the constant comparative method of Corbin and Strauss was used for data analysis. Results: according to the participants, the two main categories, "social image of nursing", and "culture and structure of the bedside", were the contextual factors that influence why nurses are leaving bedside care provision...

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to develop and test the psychometric properties of the Self-efficacy Scale for the Establishment of Good Relationships with Families in Neonatal and Pediatric Hospital Settings. METHOD: Methodological study grounded on self-efficacy theory was conducted in three phases: conceptual and operational definition (review of the literature and interviews with the target population), content validity (opinion of five experts e three clinical nurses), and exploratory factor analysis and internal consistency reliability (cross-sectional survey with a valid sample of 194 nurses)...
