Effective wavelength extension is vital in the applications of high-power narrow-linewidth fiber lasers. In this work, we demonstrate a 5-kW power-level narrow-linewidth fiber amplifier at 1050 nm utilizing a homemade biconical-tapered Yb-doped fiber (BT-YDF). Up to ∼4.96 kW fiber laser is achieved with a 3 dB linewidth of ∼0.54 nm and a beam quality factor of Mx 2  = 1.46, My 2  = 1.6. The experimental comparisons reveal that BT-YDF has the advantages of improving a stimulated Raman scattering threshold and balancing transverse mode instability suppression in the fiber amplifier...

Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries exhibit superior theoretical capacity and energy density but are still hindered by the sluggish redox conversion kinetic of lithium polysulfides arising from the significant desolvation barrier, especially under high current density or low-temperature environments. Herein, a two-dimensional (2D) porous graphitic phase carbon nitride/MXene (CN-MX) heterostructure with intrinsic defects was designed via electrostatic adherence and in-situ thermal polycondensation. In the design, the defect-rich CN with abundant catalytic activity and porous structure could efficiently facilitate the lithium polysulfides capture, the dissociation of solvated lithium-ion (Li+ ), and fast Li+ diffusion...

SIRT6, a key member of the sirtuin family, plays a pivotal role in regulating a number of vital biological processes, including energy metabolism, oxidative stress, and immune system modulation. Nevertheless, the function of SIRT6 in bony fish, particularly in the context of antiviral immune response, remains largely unexplored. In this study, a sirt6 was cloned and characterized in a commercial fish, the Chinese perch (Siniperca chuatsi). The SIRT6 possesses conserved SIR2 domain with catalytic core region when compared with other vertebrates...

To achieve insights in antiviral immune defense of the central nervous system (CNS), we investigated T cells and CD45 cells in the marine fish model Dicentrarchus labrax infected with the CNS-tropic virus betanodavirus. By employing markers for pan-T cells (mAb DLT15) and CD45-cells (mAb DLT22) in immunofluorescence (IIF) of leukocytes from brain, we obtained 3,7±2.3% of T cells and 7.3±3.2% of CD45+ cells. Both IIF and immunoelectron microscopy confirmed a leukocyte/glial morphology for the immunoreactive cells...

Group 4 Lewis acids are well-known catalysts and precursors for (non-aqueous) sol-gel chemistry. Titanium, zirconium and hafnium halides, and alkoxy halides are precursors for the controlled synthesis of nanocrystals, often in the presence of Lewis base. Here, we investigate the interaction of Lewis bases with the tetrahalides (MX4 , X = Cl, Br) and metal alkoxy halides (MX x (OR)4- x , x = 1-3, R = Oi Pr, O t Bu). The tetrahalides yield the expected Lewis acid-base adducts MX4 L2 (L = tetrahydrofuran or phosphine oxide)...

Nanohybrid assemblies provide an effective platform for integrating the intrinsic properties of individual components into microscale fibers. In this study, a novel approach for creating mechanically and environmentally stable MXene fibers through the synergistic assembly of MXene and polyacrylonitrile (PAN), is introduced. Unlike fibers generated via a conventional stabilization process, which relies on air-based stabilization to transform the PAN molecules into ring structures fundamental to carbon fibers, the hybrid fibers are annealed in an Ar atmosphere...

First, the Lax integrability of the above equation is proved and its modulational instability (i.e., the main mechanism for producing the rogue wave solutions and the breather solutions) is calculated. Subsequently, using the generalized perturbation (n,N-n)-fold Darboux transformation, the rogue waves, breathers, and mixed interaction solutions are acquired, as well as the impact of various parameters on the solutions is examined...

Chemokines are critical molecules involved in immune reaction and immune system homeostasis, and some chemokines are involved in antiviral immunity. It is not known if the C-C motif chemokine ligand 3 (CCL3), a member of the CC chemokine family, possesses antiviral properties in fish. In this study, a ccl3 was cloned from the mandarin fish (Siniperca chuatsi), and it has an open reading frame (ORF) of 276 base pairs, which are predicted to encode a 91-amino acid peptide. Mandarin fish CCL3 revealed conserved sequence features with four cysteine residues and closely relationships with the CCL3s from other vertebrates based on the sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis...

Microbial-influenced corrosion is a potential threat to long-term integrity of UFC as bisulfide (HS- ) may be produced by microbial activities under anaerobic conditions and transported via diffusion through the HCB to reach the UFC surface, resulting in corrosion of copper. Nowadays, dye water pollution is becoming increasingly severe. The muscle-type nicotinic acetylcholine receptor is a transmitter-gated ion channel residing in the plasma membrane of electrocytes and striated muscle cells. It is present predominantly at synaptic junctions, where it effects rapid depolarization of the postsynaptic membrane in response to acetylcholine released into the synaptic cleft. Previously, cryo-EM of intact membrane from Torpedo revealed that the lipid bilayer surrounding the junctional receptor has a uniquely asymmetric and ordered structure, due to a high concentration of cholesterol...
