OBJECTIVE: FAT3 and LRP1B are two tumor suppressor genes with high mutation frequency in multiple cancer types, we sought to investigate the prognostic and immunological significance of these two genes in EC. METHODS: Based on a cohort of 502 EC samples, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of its multidimensional data types including genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical information, the potential impact of FAT3 and LRP1B co-mutation on antitumor immune response and prognosis were systematically discussed...

INTRODUCTION: Patients with a prolonged preoperative symptom duration (PSD) in the setting of cervical disk herniation (DH) may suffer inferior outcomes after surgical intervention. Comparison between anterior cervical diskectomy and fusion (ACDF) versus cervical disk arthroplasty (CDA) in this at-risk population has not yet been conducted. METHODS: Patients undergoing ACDF or CDA for DH with a PSD > 180 days were selected. Six-week (6W) and final follow-up (FF) patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) as well as magnitude of postoperative improvements (∆PROM) were compared between cohorts using multivariable linear regression...

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effects of demographic shifts, changes in contemporaneous clinical practices, and technologic innovation on assisted reproductive technology (ART) success rates by conducting an analysis of cumulative live-birth rates across different time periods, age groups, and infertility diagnoses. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of autologous linked cycles comparing cumulative live-birth rates over successive cycles from patients undergoing their first retrieval between 2014 and 2019 in the SART CORS (Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology Clinic Outcome Reporting System) database...

We aimed to study whether separating the vaginal and abdominal surgical fields during total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) is associated with surgical site infection rates. This was a retrospective cohort study of all patients who underwent TLH and any concomitant procedures with two minimally invasive gynecologic surgery subspecialists between January 2016 and May 2023. Among 680 included patients, the rate of infection was 0.8% with surgical field separation and 1.3% without (3/377 vs 4/303; odds ratio 0...

OBJECTIVE: To describe the patterns of health care utilization among patients with chronic pelvic pain. METHODS: Deidentified administrative claims data from the OptumLabs Data Warehouse were used. Adult female patients who had their first medical claim for chronic pelvic pain between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2019, were included. Utilization was examined for 12 months after the index diagnosis. The greedy nearest neighbor matching method was used to identify a control group of individuals without chronic pelvic pain...

The presence of BRAF mutation in hematological malignancies, excluding Hairy cell leukemia, and its significance as a driver mutation in myeloid neoplasms (MNs) remains largely understudied. This research aims to evaluate patient characteristics and outcomes of BRAF -mutated MNs. Among a cohort of 6667 patients, 48 (0.7%) had BRAF -mutated MNs. Notably, three patients exhibited sole BRAF mutation, providing evidence supporting the hypothesis of BRAF 's role as a driver mutation in MNs. In acute myeloid leukemia, the majority of patients had secondary acute myeloid leukemia, accompanied by poor-risk cytogenic and RAS pathway mutations...

Congenital myasthenic syndromes (CMS) are clinically and genetically heterogeneous diseases caused by mutations affecting neuromuscular transmission. Even if the first symptoms mainly occur during childhood, adult neurologists must confront this challenging diagnosis and manage these patients throughout their adulthood. However, long-term follow-up data from large cohorts of CMS patients are lacking and the long-term prognosis of these patients is largely unknown. We report the clinical features, diagnostic difficulties, and long-term prognosis of a French nationwide cohort of 235 adult patients with genetically confirmed CMS followed in 23 specialized neuromuscular centres...

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Women have been historically underrepresented in implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) trials. No data on sex differences regarding subcutaneous-ICDs (S-ICD) carriers have been described. Aim of our study was to investigate sex-related differences among unselected S-ICD recipients. METHODS: Consecutive patients enrolled in the multicenter, international i-SUSI registry were analyzed. Comparisons between sexes were performed using a 1:1 propensity matching adjusted analysis for age, body mass index (BMI), left ventricular function and substrate...

Meningomyelocele is one of the most severe forms of neural tube defects (NTDs) and the most frequent structural birth defect of the central nervous system. We assembled the Spina Bifida Sequencing Consortium to identify causes. Exome and genome sequencing of 715 parent-offspring trios identified six patients with chromosomal 22q11.2 deletions, suggesting a 23-fold increased risk compared with the general population. Furthermore, analysis of a separate 22q11.2 deletion cohort suggested a 12- to 15-fold increased NTD risk of meningomyelocele...

Poor TB treatment outcomes are observed in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) comorbidity and glycemic control throughout treatment may play a role. The objective of this study was to investigate glycemic control longitudinally among Filipino adults undergoing TB treatment using mixed-effects linear and logistic regression. BACKGROUND: One of the largest problems facing the world today is the morbidity and mortality caused by antibiotic resistance in bacterial infections. A major factor in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is the irrational use of antibiotics. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 428 inpatient prescriptions containing antibiotics from two major governmental hospitals, they were evaluated by some drug use indicators...
