Lately, emulsions with low-fat and natural stabilizers are predominant. This study extracted the nano cellulose crystals (NCs) from Camellia Oleifera shells, and their gallic acid (GA) conjugates were synthesized by free-radical grafting. Pickering emulsions were prepared using NCs 1 %, 1.5 %, 2.5 %, and gallic acid conjugates NC-GA1, NC-GA2, and NC-GA3 as stabilizers. The obtained nano cellulose crystals exhibited 18-25 nm, -40.01 ± 2.45 size, and zeta potential, respectively...

Total PME activity in reproductive tissues was related to haplotypes at maize cross incompatibility loci, suggesting that these loci function by controlling PME activity. In maize, the pollination outcome depends on the haplotypes of the interacting male gametophyte (germinated pollen) and female sporophyte (silk) at several cross-incompatibility loci. Functional alleles (-S haplotypes) of the cross-incompatibility loci Ga1 and Ga2, both encode two pectin methylesterases (PMEs), one that is expressed in silk and the other in pollen...

Rising wide bandgap semiconductor gallium oxide (Ga2 O3 ) displays huge potential in performing solar-blind photodetection, with constraint in narrow detection wavebands in nature, whereas bandgap modulation through the introduction of exotic atoms into Ga2 O3 has an essential effect on the tunable performance of photodetectors and the detection waveband. Here, a novel method for the preparation of (In x Ga1- x )2 O3 alloy films is proposed, and the continuous tuning of the bandgap in the range of 3.70-4.99 eV is achieved by varying the In-doping content...

There is no report on the potential molecular mechanism of the correlation between polarity of ginsenoside components and their allelopathic autotoxicity. This study applied a combination of metabolomics and transcriptomics analysis techniques, combined with apparent morphology, physiological indexes, and cell vitality detection of the ginseng hairy roots, through which the molecular mechanism of correlation between polarity and allelopathic autotoxicity of ginsenosides were comprehensively studied...

The dormancy release by KAR1 is associated with a reduction of coleorhiza and radicle sensitivity to ABA as well as with reduction the ABA/GAs ratio in the coleorhiza, by a decrease content of ABA, and in the radicle, by a decrease the ABA and an increase of the GAs contents. Both, karrikin 1 (KAR1 ) and gibberellin A3 (GA3 ), release dormancy in Avena fatua caryopses, resulting in the emergence of coleorhiza (CE) and radicle (RE). Moreover, KAR1 and GA3 stimulate CE and RE in the presence of abscisic acid (ABA), the stimulation being more effective in CE...

Layered carbides are fascinating compounds due to their enormous structural and chemical diversity, as well as their potential to possess useful and tunable functional properties. Their preparation, however, is challenging and forces synthesis scientists to develop creative and innovative strategies to access high-quality materials. One unique compound among carbides is Mo2 Ga2 C. Its structure is related to the large and steadily growing family of 211 MAX phases that crystallize in a hexagonal structure (space group P 63 / mmc ) with alternating layers of edge-sharing M 6 X octahedra and layers of the A -element...

Ga2 O3 is a promising material for power electronic applications. Alloying with In2 O3 is used for band gap adjustment and reduction of the lattice mismatch. In this study, we calculate the effective band structure of 160-atom (In x Ga1- x )2 O3 supercells generated using special quasi-random structures where indium atoms preferentially substitute octahedral gallium sites in β-Ga2 O3 . We find that the disorder has a minimal effect on the lower conduction bands and does not introduce defect states. Employing the Heyd, Scuseria, and Ernzerhof (HSE06) hybrid functional, we accurately model the band gap, which remains indirect for all considered indium fractions, x , linearly decreasing from 4...

We present a micro-Raman study of InP/InGaP tandem junction photovoltaic nanowires. These nanowires render possible InGaP compositions that cannot be made in thin films due to strain. The micro-Raman spectra acquired along the nanowires reveal the existence of compositional changes in the InGaP alloy associated with the doping sequence. The heavily Zn-doped In x Ga1- x P ( x is the In molar fraction) side of the tunnel diode is Ga rich, x = 0.25, with respect to the n-type and intrinsic segments of the top cell, which are close to the nominal composition of the NWs ( x = 0...

Gibberellins (GAs) are major regulators of developmental and growth processes in plants. Using the degradation-based signaling mechanism of GAs, we have built transcriptional regulator (DELLA)-based, genetically encoded ratiometric biosensors as proxies for hormone quantification at high temporal resolution and sensitivity that allow dynamic, rapid and simple analysis in a plant cell system, i.e. Arabidopsis protoplasts. The proposed structure integrates a nonlinear optical waveguide, composed of multiple Alx Ga1-x As layers, with a THz leaky waveguide, wherein a bianisotropic metasurface realizes the radiating aperture. By explicitly utilizing the electric, magnetic, and magnetoelectric coupling responses of the metasurface, we demonstrate that the generated THz wave can be induced as a tightly confined, phase-matched guided mode for efficient generation of the THz wave...
