OBJECTIVE: To report a rare case of a patient with a molecular diagnosis of Kleefstra syndrome (KS) who has four other chromosomal alterations involving pathogenic variants. CASE DESCRIPTION: Male patient, two years old, with global delay, including in neuropsychomotor development, ocular hypertelorism, broad forehead, brachycephaly, hypotonia, ligament laxity, unilateral single palmar crease and arachnoid cyst. The contemporary visibility of 'digital addictions' to online gaming, watching pornography, social media and so on suggests the discovery of some new form of technologically facilitated disease. Yet, what we actually see in the symptoms of these various behaviours when described as 'addictions' are a series of social problems that range from the interpersonal to the sociocultural. In the current article, I work to step outside of the individualising tendency of an addiction taxonomy to instead view digital addictions as a process of social diagnosis...

Leber hereditary ptic neuropathy (LHON) is a disease of young adults with bilateral, painless, subacute visual loss. The peak age of onset of LHON is in the second and third decades of life. Men are 4 times more likely to be affected than women. In about 25-50% of cases, both eyes are affected simultaneously. In unilateral cases, the other eye is usually affected 2 to 3 months later. Visual acuity deteriorates to counting fingers or worse with a dense central or centrocecal scotoma. In the subacute phase, the optic disc may appear hyperemic with swelling of the peripapillary retinal nerve fibre layer, peripapillary telangiectasias, and increased vascular tortuosity...

Cushing´s syndrome is a rare disease with the population prevalence about 40 patients per 1 million inhabitants, the number among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) is probably higher. The screening of CS among the DM patients showed the prevalence between 0-2.9% in the groups of outpatients and 2-2.9% among the patients admitted to the hospital at the time of randomization. The routine screening of CS among patients with type 2 DM is not recommended at the moment. Nevertheless, the possibility of CS should be taken into the account mainly in patients with hypertension, obesity, microvascular complications, bad level of metabolic control or high insulin doses, especially, if more of these features are present...

INTRODUCTION: Pancreatic cancer (PC) is one of the most aggressive malignancies, and it's difficult to diagnosis PC at an early stage, which leads to the poor prognosis of PC. OBJECTIVES: To identifiy the possible prognosis or dignosis metabolite biomarkers in the serum exosome of PC patients. METHODS: We employed LC-DDA-MS based untargeted lipidomic analysis to search for potential candidate biomarkers in the serum exosome of PC patients...

Moebius Syndrome (MS) is characterized by congenital paralysis of the 6th and 7th cranial nerves, sometimes combined with deficits in cranial nerves and with limb anomalies. We reported that identifying common upper extremity orthopedic manifestations of this syndrome would asist physicians who care for affected patients to promtly establish a dignosis and treatment plan. Our internal medical record system was queried and a keyword search for "Möbius/Moebius Syndrome" was conducted. The clinical data collected for each patient consisted of age at diagnosis, date of first and date of final follow-up, treatment type, treatment duration, and complications from treatment...

The aim of this report is to demonstrate the importance of the association of various imaging methods in the identification and subsequent accurate percutaneous biopsy in patients with recurrence of prostate cancer, especially in unusual sites. An 86 years old male with biochemical recurrence, during radiological investigation a PET-MRI was noted the presence of an asymmetry of the vas deferens with PSMA- 68Ga uptaken, suggesting the recurrence...

We report a mother and daughter with autosomal recessive ataxia with occulomotor apraxia in whom sequence analysis of senataxin revealed a dignosis of AOA2 (ataxia with occulomotor apraxia type 2) in both individuals. The apparent dominant inheritance pattern (pseudodominant) was the result of the unusual coincidence of both mother and daughter being compound heterozygotes for senataxin mutations. Our case exemplifies the challenges of diagnosis in hereditary ataxias, and the limitations of genetic testing guided solely by patterns of inheritance...

Common clinical presentations are lymphatic cutaneous and fixed cutaneous disease. We report 2 cases of fixed cutaneous sporotrichosis with granulomatous appearance. The first case was a patient of 65 years old with no risk factors and the second case was a 67 year old diabetic patient. Subjects underwent mycological culture with Sabouraud agar, with isolation of Sporothrix schenckii and clinical dignosis of fixed cutaneous sporotrichosis with granulomatous appearance...
