INTRODUCTION: Service robot technology is increasingly gaining prominence in the field of artificial intelligence. However, persistent limitations continue to impede its widespread implementation. In this regard, human motion pose estimation emerges as a crucial challenge necessary for enhancing the perceptual and decision-making capacities of service robots. METHOD: This paper introduces a groundbreaking model, YOLOv8-ApexNet, which integrates advanced technologies, including Bidirectional Routing Attention (BRA) and Generalized Feature Pyramid Network (GFPN)...

Patterning and growth are fundamental features of embryonic development that must be tightly coordinated. To understand how metabolism impacts early mesoderm development, we used mouse embryonic stem-cell-derived gastruloids, that co-expressed glucose transporters with the mesodermal marker T/Bra. We found that the glucose mimic, 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG), blocked T/Bra expression and abolished axial elongation in gastruloids. However, glucose removal did not phenocopy 2-DG treatment despite a decline in glycolytic intermediates...

Thermal processing with salt ions is widely used for the production of food products (such as whole grain food) containing protein and anthocyanin. To date, it is largely unexplored how salt ion presence during thermal processing regulates the practical performance of protein/anthocyanin binary system. Here, rice albumin (RA) and black rice anthocyanins (BRA) were used to prepare RA/BRA composite systems as a function of temperature (60-100 °C) and NaCl concentration (10-40 mM) or CaCl2 concentration (20 mM)...

Black rice anthocyanins (BRA) nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared using hyaluronic acid (HA), oxidized hyaluronic acid (OHA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA) to enhance the absorption and bioactivity of anthocyanins (ACNs). Results showed that HA/OHA-BSA-BRA NPs had a spherical morphology and excellent dispensability, with hydrated radius ~ 500 nm, zeta potential ~ - 30 mV, and encapsulation efficiency ~21 %. Moreover, using in vitro gastrointestinal release assay, we demonstrated that both BRA-loaded NPs exhibited effective controlled release properties of ACNs, significantly enhancing the accessibility of ACNs to the intestine...

BACKGROUND: Nonsurgical guidelines recommend implementing a correctly fitted bra when managing back pain among larger breasted women. Achieving this is challenging with current bra solutions, sizing principles, and fitting approaches. Persistent wearing of an ill-fitting bra can cause negative health implications, including non-specific back pain. OBJECTIVES: This study investigated immediate and short-term biomechanical and pain responses to changing breast support garment among larger breasted women with non-specific back pain...

BACKGROUND: A firming and toning cosmetic body lotion (FTB) was developed to target key pathways relevant to body skin health and rejuvenation that may complement the improvements observed after noninvasive body contouring (NIBC). A pilot study explored the efficacy and tolerability of FTB as an adjunct to cryolipolysis. PURPOSE: Brain metastasis (BM) in colorectal cancer (CRC) is a rare event with poor prognosis. Apart from (K)RAS status and lung and bone metastasis no biomarkers exist to identify patients at risk. This study aimed to identify a gene expression signature associated with colorectal BM. METHODS: Three patient groups were formed: 1. CRC with brain metastasis (BRA), 2. exclusive liver metastasis (HEP) and, 3. non-metastatic disease (M0). RNA was extracted from primary tumors and mRNA expression was measured using a NanoString Panel (770 genes)...

Neuromesodermal progenitors (NMPs), serving as the common origin of neural and paraxial mesodermal development in a large part of the trunk, have recently gained significant attention because of their critical importance in the understanding of embryonic organogenesis and the design of in vitro models of organogenesis. However, the nature of NMPs at many essential points remains only vaguely understood or even incorrectly assumed. Here, we discuss the nature of NMPs, focusing on their dynamic migratory behavior during embryogenesis and the mechanisms underlying their neural vs...

BACKGROUND: Identification of novel cell-based therapy sources has been of great interest in recent years to provide alternative and available therapy options in clinics. Conditioned medium (CM) can be a valuable supply for growth factors, cytokines and chemokines as a source of stem cell secretome. Exploring the role of new CM sources for tissue regeneration might be a promising approach for therapeutic purposes. METHODS AND RESULTS: In the current study, neuromesodermal progenitors (NMPs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were used to collect CM...

RATIONALE: Colorectal Cancer (CRC) represents the third most common type of cancer in Germany and the second most common cancer-related cause of death worldwide. Distant metastases are still the main limit for patient survival. While liver metastases as well as peritoneal carcinomatosis can often either be resected or treated with systemic therapy, little options remain for brain metastases. Additionally, a number of studies has already investigated hepatic, peritoneal, pulmonary as well as continuing distant metastases in colorectal cancer...

Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (IPD) remain a challenge for medicine due to several interconnected reasons, such as antimicrobial resistance (AMR). American tegumentary leishmaniasis (ATL) is an overlooked IPD causing persistent skin ulcers that are challenging to heal, resulting in disfiguring scars. Moreover, it has the potential to extend from the skin to the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth, and throat in both humans and various animals. Given the limited effectiveness and AMR of current drugs, the exploration of new substances has emerged as a promising alternative for ATL treatment...

Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) is a biocompatible synthetic polymer that induces neocollagenesis by fibroblasts after placement into the reticular dermis and subcutaneous plane. We present an innovative use of this product to treat brassiere strap grooves. The size and weight of hypertrophied breasts can cause physical and psychological problems that can be corrected with reduction mammaplasty. However, bra strap grooving remains an unsightly consequence of brassiere use with large and heavy breasts. PLLA provides an innovative way to treat this deformity in a minimally invasive way, while maintaining relatively long-term results of two years or more...

Renal agenesis (RA) represents the most severe form of congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT). Bilateral renal agenesis (BRA) is almost invariably fatal at birth and has high genetic heterogeneity. Here we report on a Chinese family with two pregnancies affected by a prenatal form of BRA. Trio-WES was conducted to explore the underlying genetic cause and identified a novel nonsense variant (c.2621G>A: p. Trp874Ter) in the GREB1L gene. Based on previous research, pathogenic mutations in GREB1L can cause renal hypodysplasia/aplasia-3 (RHDA3) with autosomal dominant inheritance...

This scoping review aimed to identify and summarise evidence on the comfort and functional performance of police officer personal protective equipment (PPE). The Arksey and O'Malley (2005) five-stage framework for scoping reviews was followed. PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched, and 35 articles were included in the review. The findings show that increased police PPE mass increases heart rate, metabolic energy expenditure, and perceived exertion in response to exercise. Unisex armour designs cause increased discomfort for females with larger bra sizes...
