BACKGROUND: Some important studies have shown that patient-prosthesis mismatch is a frequent occurrence after surgical aortic valve replacement that impairs survival. The Trifecta valve (St. Jude Medical Inc, St. Paul, MN) has special architecture designed to achieve the best hemodynamic profile.
