INTRODUCTION: Vulvar cancer has an overall low incidence, accounting for approximately 3-5% of all gynecological malignancies.Case: We present a case of locally recurrent Stage IIIA squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva in a 51-year-old healthy African American female. She was initially treated with primary chemoradiation with cisplatin sensitization and boost to primary tumor up to 70 Gray. Post-treatment biopsies revealed complete pathologic response. She later presented with local recurrence to the primary site of the clitoris and vulva, with no evidence of metastasis on imaging, with progressive disease despite treatment with immunotherapy...

Selecting breed-worthy gilts as sow replacements is essential for continuity of pig production cycle. Though vitamin D3 (VD3) is known to enhance reproductive performance of multiparous sows, there is still a knowledge gap on its impact in developing gilts and primiparous sows. This study was aimed to quantify plasma 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3), serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and examine the reproductive performance of primiparous sows fed diets supplemented with regular VD3, and its 25(OH)D3 epimers...

This study was conducted to assess the disparities in camel activities such as eating, drinking, sitting, standing, and sleeping between primiparous and multiparous females before parturition using computer vision. Also, any extraordinary behaviours during the final 2 h before parturition and the necessary manual interventions were meticulously recorded. Five primiparous (age: 4.5-7 years) and 7 multiparous (age: 8-14 years; parity: 2.1 ± 1.5) dromedary camels, were included in this study...

Mammary-type tissue in the vulva was first described in 1872 but has been rarely reported in the literature. This tissue was previously considered as ectopic breast tissue that occurs as a result of incomplete regression of the milk line. Similar to native breast tissue, ectopic mammary tissue is hormone-sensitive and can develop benign changes, such as fibroadenoma, as well as malignant changes. A more recent theory suggests that these benign and malignant mammary-type entities arise from mammary-like anogenital glands, which constitute normal vulvar components...

BACKGROUND: Vestibulodynia is a highly prevalent chronic pain disorder affecting the vulva having a major impact on women's physical, psychological, and sexual well-being. It remains an underrecognized disease that responds insufficiently to therapies such as physiotherapy and medication. AIM: To assess the global efficacy of first-line therapies and factors associated with treatment escalation in women with vestibulodynia. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at the dermatology outpatient clinic of the University Hospital in Besancon (France) between 2013 and 2017 and follow-up until 2021...

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated multiphenotypic sinonasal carcinoma is a rare and recently described epithelial neoplasm exhibiting myoepithelial differentiation and morphological overlap with salivary gland neoplasms, especially adenoid cystic carcinoma; it is commonly associated with HPV, especially type 33. It has mainly been reported in the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses with a single case reported in the breast. Herein, we report the first vulval example in a 47-year-old patient who presented with a large craggy mass in the region of the Bartholin gland...

Erythrasma is a prevalent superficial bacterial infection typically caused by Corynebacteria species and preferentially affecting intertriginous sites including axillary, interdigital, and inguinal skin folds. However, erythrasma of the vulva is uncommon, with only 2 cases previously reported. Although erythrasma can be diagnosed clinically using Woods lamp examination, it may not always be considered in the differential diagnosis for patients presenting with persistent vulvar pruritus. We report 12 cases of vulvar erythrasma identified by histopathology, with a review of clinical and histologic features...

BACKGROUND: Rectocutaneous fistulae are common. The infection originates within the anal glands and subsequently extends into adjacent regions, ultimately resulting in fistula development. Cellular angiofibroma (CAF), also known as an angiomyofibroblastoma-like tumor, is a rare benign soft tissue neoplasm predominantly observed in the scrotum, perineum, and inguinal area in males and in the vulva in females. We describe the first documented case CAF that developed within a rectocutaneous fistula and manifested as a perineal mass...

Angiokeratoma is a vascular cutaneous disorder that is generally asymptomatic and presents with multiple dark red to blue or black papules over the skin. The prevalence of angiokeratoma increases as the age increases and it is more common after third and fourth decades of life. There are different types of angiokeratoma which may be localized forms (angiokeratoma of Mibelli, angiokeratoma circumscriptum, solitary angiokeratoma, and angiokeratoma of the scrotum or vulva) or diffuse variant (angiokeratoma corporis diffusum)...

Human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated malignancies account for ~5% of human cancers worldwide. Thirteen, or more, HPV types are oncogenic, but infection with these viruses is common and usually cleared within 2 years. Only infections that become persistent are associated with the development of cancer, often occurring several decades later. These cancers mostly arise in 6 different anatomical regions: 5 are anogenital (anus, cervix, penis, vagina, and vulva) and the sixth is the oropharynx. Oncogenic HPVs promote cellular proliferation and genomic instability, but the anatomical niche of the target tissue also plays an important role in the development of cancer...

Small-cell neuroendocrine carcinomas (SCNECs) of the female genital tract are rare and aggressive tumors that are characterized by a high rate of recurrence and poor prognosis. They can arise from various sites within the female genital tract, including the cervix, endometrium, ovary, fallopian tube, vagina, and vulva. They are composed of cells with neuroendocrine features, such as the ability to produce and secrete hormones and peptides, and a high mitotic rate. Immunohistochemical staining for neuroendocrine markers, such as chromogranin A, synaptophysin, and CD56, can aid in the diagnosis of these tumors...

Purpose This study delves into the epidemiology of high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection and its link to precancerous lesions among perimenopausal (40-59 years) and elderly (60-65 years) women in a Chinese county with a notably high incidence of cervical cancer. By uniquely focusing on these age groups in underdeveloped regions, the research aims to offer novel strategies for the management and prevention of cervical cancer. It seeks to inform targeted interventions and public health policies that could significantly benefit women at heightened risk for HPV, addressing a critical gap in current prevention efforts in economically disadvantaged communities...

PURPOSE: Verruciform xanthoma (VX) is a rare, chronic, and benign lesion affecting the skin and mucous membranes. We reported a case of VX in the vulva of a female child. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A 12-year-old female had vulvar lesions for over 10 years without any discomfort. Physical examination revealed red lobulated patches on the left labia majora with a few scales attached to the surface. Histopathological examination indicated excessive and incomplete keratinization, hypertrophic spinous layer hyperplasia, neutrophil infiltration in the epidermis, and foam-like tissue could be seen in the dermal papilla...

Aggressive angiomyxoma (AAM) is a rare, locally aggressive, myxoid mesenchymal neoplasm primarily found in the pelvic and perineal regions of young adult females. It is a slow growing and locally infiltrating tumor. Preoperative diagnosis is difficult due to the rarity of these tumors and absence of characteristic signs and symptoms. The primary management is tumor excision. Incomplete excision is common because of the infiltrating nature of the neoplasm and absence of a definite capsule. Other non- surgical modalities have been employed, such as radiotherapy, embolization, GnRH analogues or other anti-estrogenic agents...
