BACKGROUND: Expanding the quality and quantity of midwifery and nursing clinical preceptors is a critical need in many sub-Saharan educational settings to strengthen students' clinical learning outcomes, and ultimately to improve maternal and child mortality. Therefore, this study protocol was developed to establish a year-long, four step, precepting program to (1) improve partnership building and program development (2) provide an evidence-based course to expand competency and confidence in precepting students (3) select preceptors to become train the trainers and (4) secure accreditation for the program, ultimately to engage and support cohorts of preceptors and continue to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the program over five years...

The presence of faculty of color (FOC) provides critical role modeling and mentorship for diverse students and thereby contributes to increasing diversity in the nursing workforce. Personal reflections of FOC within a predominantly White institution involved feelings of isolation, not belonging, and lacking support and mentorship. Addressing negative experiences of FOC supports retention and advances diversity, equity, and inclusion.

BACKGROUND: "New nurses" are those with less than a year of work experience at a hospital. To address the challenges of new nurses caused by their limited experience, the Mentoring New Nurses for Transition and Empowerment Program (MNTEP) was designed based on the Stress-Appraisal-Coping Model of Lazarus and Folkman. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to explore the impact of the MNTEP, in which clinical nurse educators teach stress-coping strategies, on the clinical transition of new nurses in South Korea...

As advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) enter practice, support is crucial for success. Formal mentorship has been shown to improve employee turnover, job satisfaction, and clinical competence. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, an APRN team specializing in palliative care experienced an unprecedented rate of staff turnover. As a result, the team decided to create a formal mentorship program to support newly hired colleagues and assist their transition to practice. A subcommittee of APRNs within the palliative care practice met to establish a mentorship practice framework, expectations for the program, and a methodology for matching mentors and mentees...

Every district in Malawi has at least two doctors managing the social and healthcare needs of the local population. The medical doctors at the district are involved in administrative work and have minimal time for clinical practice. As such in most district hospitals, clinical officers (COs) form the backbone of patient care provision. These are cadres that have a 3-year training in clinical medicine; they work side by side with medical assistants (MAs) and nurses. Apart from the Ministry of Health (MoH) workforce, the Department of Family Medicine (FM) of Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) has its main district site at Mangochi...
