Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder among reproductive-age women. As a leading cause of anovulatory infertility, it complicates fertility treatments, including in vitro fertilization. The widely accepted 2003 Rotterdam diagnostic criteria for PCOS include sub-phenotypes based on variations in androgen excess, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology. In this systematic review, we examined the impacts of inositol and vitamin D on fertility in PCOS. Adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses 2020 guidelines, we used relevant keywords to comprehensively search databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, and MDPI...

D-chiro-inositol (DCI) is a potential drug for the treatment of type II diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome. In order to effectively synthesize DCI in Corynebacterium glutamicum, the genes related to inositol catabolism in clusters iol1 and iol2 were knocked out in C. glutamicum SN01 to generate the chassis strain DCI-1. DCI-1 did not grow in and catabolize myo-inositol (MI). Subsequently, different exogenous and endogenous inosose isomerases were expressed in DCI-1 and their conversion ability of DCI from MI were compared...

Infertility affects 15% of couples in reproductive age worldwide. In women in particular, infertility can be caused by various abnormalities, with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) being the most common. Currently, there are many assisted reproductive techniques (ART) available to combat the burden of infertility. However, positive results are not guaranteed. The administration of inositol has been shown to increase positive reproductive outcomes in women undergoing ART. Here we present a series of clinical cases in which women with a history of infertility and previously failed ART, supplemented with a specific 3...

D-chiro-inositol and scyllo-inositol are known for their health-promoting properties and promising as ingredients for functional foods. Strains of Bacillus subtilis and Corynebacterium glutamicum were created by metabolic engineering capable of inexpensive production of these two rare inositols from myo-inositol, which is the most common inositol in nature. In addition, further modifications have enabled the synthesis of the two rare inositols from the much-cheaper carbon sources, glucose or sucrose.

Covalent bonding interactions determine the energy-momentum ( E - k ) dispersion (band structure) of solid-state materials. Here, we show that noncovalent interactions can modulate the E - k dispersion near the Fermi level of a low-dimensional nanoscale conductor. We demonstrate that low energy band gaps may be opened in metallic carbon nanotubes through polymer wrapping of the nanotube surface at fixed helical periodicity. Electronic spectral, chiro-optic, potentiometric, electronic device, and work function data corroborate that the magnitude of band gap opening depends on the nature of the polymer electronic structure...

Conformational search and density functional theory calculations were performed to explore the preferences of helical structures for chiro-specific oligo-γ-peptides of 2-(aminomethyl)cyclopentanecarboxylic acid (γAmc5 ) with a cyclopentyl constraint on the Cα -Cβ bond in solution. The dimer and tetramer of γAmc5 (1) with homochiral (1S, 2S) configurations exhibited a strong preference for the 9-membered helix foldamer in solution, except for the tetramer in water. However, the oligomers of γAmc5 (1) longer than tetramer preferentially adopted a right-handed (P)-2...

Micronutrient insufficiencies during pregnancy have a marked impact on the health of the woman and her offspring. Evidence about the dietary practice of pregnant women is limited in Ethiopia, particularly in drought-prone areas where food insecurity is widely seen. Therefore, this research aimed to assess the dietary diversity practice and associated factors among pregnant women in Chiro district, Eastern Ethiopia. We employed a community-based cross-sectional survey in Chiro district, Eastern Ethiopia. The data were collected from 417 randomly selected pregnant women using an interview-administered structured questionnaire...

A comprehensive theory is developed for the chiral optical response of two configurations of the N-oscillator Born-Kuhn model (NOBK): the helically stacked and the corner stacked models. In the helical NOBK model, there is always a chiral response regardless of the value of N , whereas in the corner NOBK, only configurations with even N demonstrate a chiral response. Generally, the magnitudes of optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) and circular dichroism (CD) increase with N when the parameters of each oscillator are fixed...

We applied post-cyclization annulation to introduce a series of tethered S-shaped double [4]helicenes in which the intramolecular tether imposes a specific helical handedness. Introducing a tether and then shortening the tether length incrementally increase the pitch angle of [4]helicene, thus enabling a quantitative study of the effects of helicene's pitch on its electronic and (chiro)optical properties.

In this article, we present a narrative review on the use of inositol in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Of the different inositols that exist, only myo-inositol (MYO) and D-chiro inositol (DCI) have been studied in the treatment of PCOS. The results of the studies show that there is insufficient or controversial evidence to recommend the use of DCI alone, while MYO alone shows positive results and, above all, the MYO/DCI combination is effective when used at a ratio of at least 40:1, but there is enough rationale to further study ratios such as 66:1 to 100:1 as other possible effective combinations...

These techniques, rely on the differential absorption of polarised light and are indeed extremely sensitive to subtle changes in the structure of chiral biomolecules. Many CD analyses of DNA or DNA:protein complexes have been conducted with substantial data acquisitions. Conversely, CD RNA analysis are still scarce, despite the fact that RNA plays a wide cellular function...

While imagery rehearsal therapy (IRT) demonstrates benefits for patients with idiopathic nightmares and some patients with PTSD-related nightmares, research indicates it may be less beneficial for veterans. Narrative therapy (NT) is a form of psychotherapy which is client-centered and value-focused and has demonstrated benefits for PTSD patients...
