BACKGROUND: The tyrosinase inhibitor rhododendrol (RD), used as a skin whitening agent, reportedly has the potential to induce leukoderma. OBJECTIVE: Although an immune response toward melanocytes was demonstrated to be involved in leukoderma, the molecular mechanism is not fully understood.
