The first measurement of the cross section for incoherent photonuclear production of J/ψ vector mesons as a function of the Mandelstam |t| variable is presented. The measurement was carried out with the ALICE detector at midrapidity, |y|<0.8, using ultraperipheral collisions of Pb nuclei at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV. This rapidity interval corresponds to a Bjorken-x range (0.3-1.4)×10^{-3}. Cross sections are given in five |t| intervals in the range 0...

Transcribed Ultra-Conserved Regions (TUCRs) represent a severely understudied class of putative non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) that are 100% conserved across multiple species. We performed the first-ever analysis of TUCRs in glioblastoma (GBM) and low-grade gliomas (LGG). We leveraged large human datasets to identify the genomic locations, chromatin accessibility, transcription, differential expression, correlation with survival, and predicted functions of all 481 TUCRs, and identified TUCRs that are relevant to glioma biology...

Manufacturing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapies is complex, with limited understanding of how medium composition impacts T cell phenotypes. CRISPR-Cas9 ribonucleoproteins can precisely insert a CAR sequence while disrupting the endogenous T cell receptor alpha constant ( TRAC ) gene resulting in TRAC -CAR T cells with an enriched stem cell memory T cell population, a process that could be further optimized through modifications to the medium composition. In this study we generated anti-GD2 TRAC -CAR T cells using "metabolic priming" (MP), where the cells were activated in glucose/glutamine-low medium and then expanded in glucose/glutamine-high medium...

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is a frequent class of malignant brain tumors. Epigenetic therapy, especially with synergistic combinations is highly paid attention for aggressive solid tumors like GBM. Here, RSM optimization has been used to increase the efficient arrest of U87 and U251 cell lines due to synergistic effects. Cell lines were treated with SAHA, 5-Azacytidine, GSK-126, and PTC-209 individually and then RSM was used to find most effective combinations. Results showed that optimized combinations significantly reduce cell survival and induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in both cell lines...

An ion detection device that combines a DNA-origami nanopore and a field-effect transistor (FET) was designed and modeled to determine sensitivity of the nanodevice to the local cellular environment. Such devices could be integrated into a live cell, creating an abiotic-biotic interface integrated with semiconductor electronics. A continuum model is used to describe the behavior of ions in an electrolyte solution. The drift-diffusion equations are employed to model the ion distribution, taking into account the electric fields and concentration gradients...

Adaptation to hypothermia is important for skeletal muscle cells under physiological stress and is used for therapeutic hypothermia (mild hypothermia at 32  °C). We show that hypothermic preconditioning at 32  °C for 72 hours improves the differentiation of skeletal muscle myoblasts using both C2C12 and primary myoblasts isolated from 3 month and 18-month-old mice. We analyzed the cold-shock proteome of myoblasts exposed to hypothermia (32  °C for 6 and 48 h) and identified significant changes in pathways related to RNA processing and central carbon, fatty acid, and redox metabolism...

Our first principles calculation suggests that such DW formation in hafnium zirconium oxide (HZO) based FEs depends on the unique attributes of the HZO unit cell, such as polar-spacer segmentation...

BACKGROUND: Aberrant expression of histone deacetylases (HDACs) and ribonucleotide reductase (RR) enzymes are commonly observed in various cancers. Researchers are focusing on these enzymes in cancer studies with the aim of developing effective chemotherapeutic drugs for cancer treatment. Targeting both HDAC and RR simultaneously with a dual HDAC/RR inhibitor has exhibited enhanced effectiveness compared to monotherapy in cancer treatment, making it a promising strategy. OBJECTIVES: The objective of the study is to synthesize and assess the anti-cancer properties of a 1,10-phenanthroline-based hydroxamate derivative, characterizing it as a novel dual HDAC/RR inhibitor...

Suspension cell culture and rigid commercial substrates are the most common methods to clinically manufacture therapeutic CAR-T cells ex vivo . However, suspension culture and nano/micro-scale commercial substrates poorly mimic the microenvironment where T cells naturally develop, leading to profound impacts on cell proliferation and phenotype. To overcome this major challenge, macro-scale substrates can be used to emulate that environment with higher precision. This work employed a biocompatible thermo-responsive material with tailored mechanical properties as a potential synthetic macro-scale scaffold to support T cell encapsulation and culture...

Nalidixic acid-resistant Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi is a well-known cause of enteric fever, and its prevalence is increasing worldwide. However, the incidence of enteric fever complicated by non-immune hemolytic anemia without co-existing thalassemia or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is rare. In this case report, we present a case of acute non-immune hemolytic anemia in enteric fever caused by nalidixic acid-resistant Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi.

Turbulence is a fundamental process that drives mixing and energy redistribution across a wide range of astrophysical systems. For warm ([Formula: see text]) plasma, the material is partially ionized, consisting of both ionized and neutral species. The interactions between ionized and neutral species are thought to play a key role in heating (or cooling) of partially ionized plasmas. Here, mixing is studied in a two-fluid partially ionized plasma undergoing the shear-driven Kelvin-Helmholtz instability to evaluate the thermal processes within the mixing layer...

Present study examines the possible improvement of thermal discomfort mitigation. Unlike prior researches, which focused primarily on cooling effects of urban blue space, this study, instead of physical presence of blue space considers its hydrological components. The aim of the study is to better understand the role hydrological components like water consistency depth etc. In temperature regulation. The work uses field surveys and modeling to demonstrate how these hydrological factors influence the cooling effect of blue space, providing insights on urban thermal management...
