In this study, twenty-three ent-eudesmane sesquiterpenoids (1-23) including fifteen previously undescribed ones, named eutypelides A-O (1-15) were isolated from the marine-derived fungus Eutypella sp. F0219. Their planar structures and relative configurations were established by HR-ESIMS and extensive 1D and 2D NMR investigations. The absolute configurations of the previously undescribed compounds were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses, modified Mosher's method, and ECD calculations. Structurally, eutypelide A (1) is a rare 1,10-seco-ent-eudesmane, whereas 2-15 are typically ent-eudesmanes with 6/6/-fused bicyclic carbon nucleus...

Eleven undescribed cembrane-type diterpenoids, named litoamentenes A-K (1-11), were isolated from the soft coral Litophyton amentaceum collected from the South China Sea. Their structures were elucidated by extensive analysis of spectroscopic data, comparison with the literature data, single crystal X-ray diffraction, quantum chemical calculations and TDDFT-ECD calculations. This is the first systematic investigation of L. amentaceum. In particular, compounds 1-3 are cembrane-type norditerpenoids that lack isopropyl side chains...

Huperzia serrata, belonging to the Lycopodiaceae family, has been traditionally utilized for the management of treating rheumatic numbness, arthritic pain, dysmenorrhea, and contusions. This plant is a rich source of lycopodium alkaloids, some of which have demonstrated notable cholinesterase inhibitory activity. The objective of this study was to identify lycopodium alkaloids with cholinesterase inhibitory properties from H. serrata. The structures of these alkaloids were elucidated by HRESIMS, NMR (including a 1 H-15 N HMBC experiment), ECD methods and single-crystal X-ray diffraction...

The widespread dissemination of bacterial resistance has led to great attention being paid to finding substitutes for traditionally used antibiotics. Plants are rich in various phytochemicals that could be used as antibacterial therapies. Here, we elucidate the phytochemical profile of Euphorbia canariensis ethanol extract (EMEE) and then elucidate the antibacterial potential of ECEE against Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates. ECEE showed minimum inhibitory concentrations ranging from 128 to 512 µg/mL...

Phenolics, abundant in plants, constitute a significant portion of phytoconstituents consumed in the human diet. The phytochemical screening of the aerial parts of Centaurium spicatum led to the isolation of five phenolics. The anti-tyrosinase activities of the isolated compounds were assessed through a combination of in vitro experiments and multiple in silico approaches. Docking and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation techniques were utilized to figure out the binding interactions of the isolated phytochemicals with tyrosinase...

Exploring phytochemicals from ethnomedicinal plants for pharmacological applications is a promising research area. By studying ethnomedicine, researchers can identify plants used for centuries to treat ailments and investigate their phytochemicals. Consequently, phytochemicals can be isolated, characterized, and tested for pharmacological activities, leading to new drug development. This research also helps preserve traditional knowledge and biodiversity. Lithospermum officinale L., found in Eurasia, Argentina (South), Colombia, and the United States, is valued for its medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects...
