BACKGROUND: Sexual dysfunction (erectile dysfunction in males, sexual dissatisfaction, sexual interest/arousal disorders, and dyspareunia in females) has not been the subject of indepth research in people with cystic fibrosis (CF). This study aimed to determine the prevalence of sexual dysfunction in adults with CF, factors associated with sexual dysfunction, and the impact of sexual dysfunction on quality of life. METHOD: We conducted a multicentre study in adults with cystic fibrosis followed in specialist centres in Western France...

IMPORTANCE: The primary care workforce shortage is significant and persistent, with organizational and policy leaders urgently seeking interventions to enhance retention and recruitment. Time constraints are a valuable focus for action; however, designing effective interventions requires deeper understanding of how time constraints shape employees' experiences and outcomes of work. OBJECTIVE: To examine how time constraints affect primary care physicians' work experiences and careers...

This study examined negative life changes due to coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) and its correlates in a sample of community-dwelling older adults from a low-income urban city in Korea, focusing on gendered differences. Negative life changes due to COVID-19 were categorized into four domains: behavioral/physical, psychosocial, goal-seeking, and control/freedom. Being female, not receiving basic livelihood security, and dissatisfaction with housing situation were significantly associated with negative life changes during the pandemic...

As a solution to restore knee function and reduce pain, the demand for Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) has dramatically increased in recent decades. The high rates of dissatisfaction and revision makes it crucially important to understand the relationships between surgical factors and post-surgery knee performance. Tibial implant alignment in the sagittal plane (i.e., posterior tibia slope, PTS) is thought to play a key role in quadriceps muscle forces and contact conditions of the joint, but the underlying mechanisms and potential consequences are poorly understood...

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has had drastic effects on K-12 teachers. Researchers partnered with a teacher advisory board to identify factors associated with K-12 teachers' consideration of leaving teaching during Fall 2020. METHODS: A web-based survey focused on teachers' working experiences was emailed to school union membership listservs in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. A logistic regression model was developed to identify working conditions associated with teachers considering leaving the profession...

Reports of parental dissatisfaction from incomplete or inconsistent information led to a quality improvement (QI) project to establish planned family conferences at 10 days and 1 month of life, for 50% of the medically complex neonates admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit within 1 year. A QI team instituted a system in which social workers scheduled family conferences and a neonatologist conducted the conferences. Team members tracked measures using statistical process control charts over 21 months. The QI team scheduled conferences for greater than 80% of eligible families, with an 86% completion rate on days 10 and 30, exceeding project goals of 50%...

Inverted nipples are commonly observed and can lead to challenges in breastfeeding, sexual experiences, and dissatisfaction with one's physical appearance. Currently, there is a lack of consensus on the optimal treatment approach. The use of a smooth silicone implant to reconstruct the nipple-areola complex in post-mastectomy breast reconstruction has recently been proposed. This study presents the first case using this approach in a patient with a grade II inverted nipple who previously failed conventional reconstructive surgical treatment...

BACKGROUND: Variation in the provision of care and outcomes in the last months of life by cancer and non-cancer conditions is poorly understood. AIMS: (1) To describe patient conditions, symptom burden, practical problems, service use and dissatisfaction with end-of-life care for older adults based on the cause of death. (2) To explore factors related to these variables focussing on the causes of death. DESIGN: Secondary analysis of pooled data using cross-sectional mortality follow-back surveys from three studies: QUALYCARE; OPTCare Elderly; and International Access, Right, and Empowerment 1...

Background and Objectives : Medical students represent the ideal target group for promoting mental health and mental wellbeing, being exposed to specific risk factors, such as the content of medical training, the exposure to sickness and death, and a stressful academic routine. Medical students report high levels of cynicism and emotional exhaustion, which represent two of the essential features of burnout syndrome. In this systematic review, studies assessing the levels of burnout among medical students through validated tools worldwide were analyzed...

Background : High body mass and adiposity during pregnancy can contribute to psychological distress, and body dissatisfaction may be a potential underlying mechanism of this association. Objective. This study aimed to evaluate the mediational role of body dissatisfaction in the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and depressive and anxious symptoms, respectively. Methods : Given the cross-sectional design of this study, two alternative models were investigated, positing that BMI was related to depressive (Model 1a) and anxious symptoms (Model 2a), which, in turn, predicted body dissatisfaction...

RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL

In the past 30 years, there have been numerous positive body image and eating disorder prevention programs targeting youth developed for school-based settings. Frequently, teachers are used as interventionists to increase dissemination, decrease costs relative to researchers, and increase scalability. However, little is known about teacher concerns and barriers that may hinder successful uptake and implementation. The current study recruited a total of 269 teachers who consented to implement a universal body image and appearance-related bullying and teasing prevention program in their classrooms as part of a randomized controlled trial...

Clarifying the relationship between the man-machine environment and its impact on the tunnel wall drilling task performance (TWDTP) is crucial for enhancing the task performance. Based on a questionnaire survey, indicators of the man-machine environment that affect the TWDTP were proposed in this study, and exploratory factor analysis and a structural equation model were employed to examine the potential factors influencing the task performance and their degrees of influence. By comparing the discrepancy between the perceived performance and importance, the satisfaction of potential factors was evaluated, and the priority order for optimizing these factors was determined by considering the degree of influence and dissatisfaction...

INTRODUCTION: The decreased penile length in patients born with bladder exstrophy (BE) results partly from pubic symphysis diastasis and the separation of the corporal bodies. Also, intrinsic shortening of anterior corporal compartment, residual penile dorsal curvature, and postsurgical scarred skin share in creation of short penile length. OBJECTIVE: The goal of this study was to look at whether adult men who had bladder exstrophy (BE) surgery as babies needed and benefited from penile reconstruction, which included penile lengthening and repair of any redo penile pathology that was present at the same time...

Given that mobile digital imaging analyses (DIA) are equipped to automate body composition and subsequently alter one's appearance at a given objective body fat percent (BF%), the purpose of this study was to validate the use of this tool for assessments of body image. Participants (f = 134, m = 89) from two separate centers underwent body composition scans using a mobile DIA and completed the Multidimensional Body Self-Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS). Using a DIA-generated avatar, participants altered their figure so that it represented their perceived body, ideal body, and what a partner would find attractive...

Sexuality is an important sphere of every person's life. Sexual dysfunctions and sexual dissatisfaction may also be present in cardiac diseases. Individuals affected by heart failure (HF) deserve special attention since it can be the final stage of many cardiac diseases. Therefore, it is important to verify potential correlates of sexual well-being in individuals with HF. This study was conducted online between 2019 and 2023, and 262 Polish women aged between 18 and 59 years ( M = 45.48; SD = 7.65) participated in it...

OBJECTIVE: Anorexia Nervosa (AN) has one of the highest mortality rates of all mental health disorders, low recovery rate and is associated with widespread endocrine dysfunction. Resistance training (RT) has been consistently shown to provide beneficial effects on health outcomes that are often negatively affected by AN, however participation in exercise is controversial for individuals with AN.
