Micronodular thymoma (MNT) is a rare subtype of thymoma (reported incidence is approximately 1-5%). We report a case received as a core biopsy from the "right lung mass" of a 31-year-old female. CT scan showed an 8.1 cm large well-defined mass lesion in the right middle lobe, causing indentation and mild compression of the right atrium. Microscopically, the biopsy showed a thymic neoplasm comprised of multiple discrete and coalescing nodules of bland epithelioid tumor cells separated by an epithelial cell-free lymphocyte-rich stroma...

Strongyloides stercoralis is a parasitic nematode that infects millions of people worldwide. It primarily infects humans but can also be found in domestic animals and primates. The severity of infection varies from asymptomatic to life-threatening complications. We present a case of a 56-year-old male with a known case of angiosarcoma liver with massive ascites and low-grade fever. He was clinically diagnosed as having malignant ascites and was planned for chemotherapy. During therapeutic cum diagnostic ascitic tap, cell block sections revealed the presence of cross sections of nematode S...

Brucellosis is a zoonotic infectious allergic disease caused by Brucella that is widely distributed throughout the world. Brucella can invade various systems of the human body, such as the joints, the reproductive system, the spine, and the nervous system. Among patients with brucellosis, neurobrucellosis (NB) mainly manifests as nervous system symptoms in only 1.7-10% of patients and can cause a misdiagnosis. We reported a case of NB that presented as myelitis as the main clinical presentation and reviewed the relevant literature...

Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare malignant vascular tumor that has been described in numerous sites such as soft tissue, liver, and lungs. However, primary lymph nodal presentation of hemangioendothelioma is extremely rare. We present a 49-year-old male patient who presented with an inguinal mass but was otherwise asymptomatic. Clinical and radiological workup failed to reveal any other primary lesion. The lymph node was excised and the histomorphological examination showed an epithelioid and spindle neoplasm with chondromyxoid stroma...

CONTEXT: Numerous pathogens (bacteria, viruses, or fungi) can cause childhood pneumonia. The clinical presentations of viral and bacterial pneumonia can be similar. Though viruses are a more common cause as compared to bacteria, antibiotics remain the first line of treatment for pneumonia. AIMS: This study was planned to describe the pulmonary histopathological patterns in cases of pediatric pneumonia (age <12 years) at autopsy and aimed to identify the probable etiology and correlate with clinical presentations...

Darier disease (DD) is a rare genodermatosis. Literature on this topic is overwhelmingly dominated by case reports with rare clinical presentations, which have mentioned the histopathologic features briefly. The aim of this study was to document the histopathology of DD. Skin biopsies diagnosed as Darier disease based on clinicopathologic correlation over 12 years were reviewed for various epidermal and dermal features. There were 16 patients included, who most commonly presented in the third decade, with slight female predilection...

BACKGROUND: Heart transplantation has evolved as the only treatment option for patients with refractory heart failure. CASE PRESENTATION: We here, report two unusual complications that developed following cardiac transplant to which the recipients succumbed. Post mortem conducted revealed the cause of death as severe antibody mediated rejection in one case and ruptured mycotic aneurysm of ascending aorta in the second recipient. CONCLUSION: Hence, autopsy remains the key procedure that can help establish the cause of death after cardiac transplant...

Chronic nonhealing ulcers of the oral mucosa and lateral tongue, in particular, can transform into invasive oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Sometimes these ulcers do not heal even after the removal of the etiological agent that actually initiated these lesions, something similar to what happens in "neoplasia." Numerous factors have been postulated in the literature; however, the exact mechanism remains unclear. We hereby would suggest few plausible factors that could be considered for future studies to shed light on some untapped territories in the pathogenesis of OSCC arising from chronic nonhealing traumatic ulcers in purview of chromoanagenesis and the concepts of "quantum entanglement and coherence...

Cleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is a developmental anomaly of the skeleton and teeth which may be inherited, be transmitted as dominant characteristics in either male or female or even appear spontaneously. A case was reported in the department of oral medicine and radiology of two sisters age 17 and 19 years old with a chief complaint of milk teeth not falling since childhood. They presented specific physical and oral findings in common which suggested the idea of an undiagnosed syndrome. The sisters showed CCD characteristics including short stature (4 feet) and frontal bone resorption indicating delayed closure of fontanels...

INTRODUCTION: Poorly differentiated thyroid cancer (PDTC) remains a challenge not only for pathologists and surgeons because of the difficulties associated with the diagnostic process and the compelling need for difficult thyroidectomy, but it is also of high clinical relevance because it is responsible for mortality in non-anaplastic follicular cell-derived thyroid cancer. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cases of PDTC within a 30-year period were reviewed by two independent pathologists...

Acute panmyelosis with myelofibrosis (APMF) corresponds to <1% cases of acute myeloid leukemia, which could be an underestimation due to missed diagnosis. Due to its rapidly fatal course, it warrants a timely and correct diagnosis. We present a case of a 44-year male who came with a short history of fever, generalised weakness, revealed pancytopenia with occasional circulating blast in the peripheral blood smear. Bone marrow aspirate was dry tap, biopsy revealed panmyelosis with myelofibrosis with increased (22%) blasts...

Pleomorphic adenoma usually presents as a painless growing mass in locations of the salivary glands and is notorious for local recurrence if previous surgical resection is incomplete. Schwannoma is a benign peripheral nerve tumor with microscopic features of sheets of spindle-shaped cells with nuclear palisading. However, when a pathologist encounters a salivary gland tumor with microscopic morphological features of biphasic components with areas of schwannoma-like morphology, it is crucial to make a prudent diagnosis by differentiating Schwannoma-like pleomorphic adenoma and its differential diagnosis as they have remarkably different outcome in patients...

Amyloidosis is a relatively rare condition with an array of complex pathophysiology. Localized amyloidosis is a rare and benign condition that practically never results in any clinical repercussions in the head and neck area. Multiple soft nodules of the tongue, lip, and cheek are the most commonly described defining characteristics of localized oral amyloidosis. These nodules originate due to the proliferation of abnormally folded protein aggregates in the body's extracellular tissue compartments, which destroy organ structure and function...
