[The effect of melatonin on rat behavior in a conflict situation].

The effect of melathonine on behavior of rats under conditions of conflict situation is studied in experiments conducted in morning evening hours. The drug suppressed the response of rats on painful irritation and increased a number of taking water from drinking bowl. This effect of melathonine was more pronounced in the evening trials. The effects of melathonine were comparable with the influence of conventional benzdiazepine tranquilizer, diazepine, on the animal behavior.
