Implementing the Lean 5S process improvement to boost efficiency and cost savings in hospital supply rooms.

A strong link exists between adequate supply chain management and nurse efficiency and satisfaction. Implementing Lean methodology, specifically 5S process improvement, staff created a unit-based supply room that was clean, safe, and well organized which led to reduced waste, greater efficiency, and cost savings.
