[Psychological problems in paraplegics and tetraplegics].

The problem of psychological assistance for patients with medullary damage is discussed. In the acute phase the patient needs to know that he is surrounded by skilled people able to provide the help he needs. Subsequently when he becomes aware of this disability he requires specialised psychological support. This in particularly necessary for patients forced to spend long periods in intensive care units.
