Placement of a fully covered metallic stent for malignant pancreatic stricture with intraperitoneal abscess caused by pancreatic fistula.

Several reports have demonstrated the efficacy of temporary, fully covered, metallic stents (FCMSs) for resolving refractory pancreatic ductal strictures caused by chronic pancreatitis1,2 . However, to our knowledge, no reports of FCMS placement for malignant pancreatic strictures have been published. Here, we placed an FCMS in a patient with unresectable recurrent pancreatic cancer, with concurrent malignant pancreatic stricture and refractory intraperitoneal abscess caused by a pancreatic fistula.
