A proposed treatment approach for type II sockets- A case series.

The field of oral Implantology continues to evolve with an emphasis on minimally invasive approaches. Scientific research introduced immediate implant placement and provisionalization (IIPP) over 40 years ago. The approach is a synergy between surgical and prosthetic stages reducing discomfort, appointments, and costs while producing positive outcomes. A dehiscence of the facial plate of bone (type 2 socket) requires clinical modifications to the standard protocol. This paper describes the IIPP protocol for a type II socket and provides a decision tree to utilize as a guide in patient management.
