The Impact of Targeted Rheumatoid Arthritis Pharmacologic Treatment on Mental Health.

Arthritis & Rheumatology 2019 January 29
We read with great interest the recent article by Matcham, et al, showing "effective pharmacotherapy alone is unlikely to substantially improve mental health outcomes in most patients with RA" (1). The authors conclude that there is an important role for integrating mental health care within rheumatology practice to optimize mental and physical health outcomes for RA patients. Prioritizing the psychosocial and behavioral aspects of disease encountered by rheumatology patients is an imperative for practicing rheumatology providers. This article is protected by copyright.
