Rupture of mitral chordae tendineae resulting from blunt chest trauma: diagnosis by transesophageal echocardiography.

A case of mitral chordal rupture as a result of blunt chest trauma is presented. In this patient mitral regurgitation was not severe and was successfully managed medically. Transesophageal echocardiography was pivotal in making the diagnosis.
