Freelance healthcare journalist, Al Beah, considers the successful development, evolution, and expanding use in NHS hospitals, of the KwickScreen portable room divider, one of the products designed as part of the Department of Health's HCAI (Healthcare-Associated Infection) Technology Innovation programme, which was established in 2008 to speed up the development and adoption of technologies to help combat HCAIs such as MRSA and C. difficile. As he reports, the system is now not only being deployed to combat infection in hospitals and healthcare facilities both in the UK and overseas, but also for a wide variety of other uses.
