[Appraisal of JSCCR Guidelines for the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer by questionnaire survey].

To examine the present state of dissemination and utilization of JSCCR Guidelines for the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer and to collect opinions about the contents and method of preparation in the guideline, we conducted a questionnaire survey with the purpose of using the data obtained as a basic resource for revision of the guidelines. The guidelines are widely used by physicians in their daily practice at institutions specializing in the treatment of colorectal cancer. Based on their opinions on the contents and the methods used in the preparation of the guidelines, we revised the guidelines using greater objectivity and transparency in the process of its preparation, and published the revised guideline in July 2009. The next issue that needs to be addressed is to establish a measurement system of the treatment outcome, in order to verify the effect of establishment of the guidelines.
