Calcaneonavicular bar resection.

1. Results of resection of calcaneonavicular bars in 16 feet are reported. Satisfactory results were obtained in 75% (12 of 16 feet). 2. Inadequate resection of the bar correlated with regrowth (recurrence) of the bar. 3. Good postoperative subtalar joint range of motion correlated with good results. 4. Degeneration in the rearfoot correlated with poor results. 5. Resecting the bar in the presence of another coalition yielded a poor result. 6. Resection of completely ossified bars versus incompletely ossified bars yielded no difference in results as long as no degeneration in the rearfoot was present.
