Diagnosis and management of perilymph fistula: the University of North Carolina approach.

Perilymph fistula is a potentially disabling leakage of perilymphatic fluid from the otic capsule. The occurrence of perilymph fistula is now attributed to a wide variety of causes and the diagnosis is frustrated by a lack of characteristic signs or symptoms. A brief review of the literature and the University of North Carolina philosophy for the diagnosis and management of perilymph fistula is presented. Emphasis on timely evaluation and surgical technique is provided.
