[Neuroimaging and clinical manifestations of herpes simplex encephalitis in children].
Mortality rates in herpes simplex encephalitis are still high because the condition is diagnosed too late and so specific treatment is delayed. We present a retrospective study of patients with herpes encephalitis. If in a pediatric patient with CNS infection MR images show high intensity signal lesions in characteristic localization, herpes etiology should be taken into consideration, so as to undertake appropriate treatment possibly early.
