This document contains an interim rule amending the information required to be contained in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) required to be furnished to employee benefit plan participants and beneficiaries under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, as amended (ERISA). Specifically, this rule amends the information required to be disclosed in the SPD with respect to the Newborns' and Mothers' Health Protection Act of 1996. The amendment contained in this document will affect group health plan sponsors, administrators, fiduciaries, participants, and beneficiaries.
