No definitive management guidelines exist for cervical polyps during pregnancy. Ultrasound can aid in creating a treatment plan by assessing the type of polyp and source of symptomatology. Three pregnant patients in the first, second, and third trimesters of pregnancy presented with polyps. On examination, the polyps ranged from 2 to 6 cm in size. In all cases, the origin of the cervical polyps was first identified on ultrasound. Polypectomies were performed with no complications. All patients subsequently had uncomplicated normal spontaneous vaginal deliveries at term...

Endocervical polyps are a common occurrence in the postmenopausal age group and many reports have described the presence of heterologous elements in the stroma of such polyps. The presence of mature adipose tissue in the stroma has been hypothesized to be arising from the perivascular fat or metaplastic transformation of the smooth muscle cells posttrauma. A 75-year-old female presented with spotting per vagina. Colposcopic examination revealed an endocervical polyp which was excised. Microscopic examination showed an ulcerated epithelium with metaplastic changes along with sheets of mature adipose tissue with focal S100 positivity conferring a diagnosis of choristomatous endocervical polyp with heterologous adipose tissue...

A 73-year-old lady presented with post-menopausal bleeding and a suspicious-looking endocervical polyp. She had a loop biopsy of the cervix that showed clear cell cervical carcinoma, and she was referred to our Gynaecology oncology team for further management. Following imaging for staging and an MDT discussion, she had a total abdominal radical hysterectomy that confirmed the diagnosis. The diagnosis of clear cell adenocarcinoma of the cervix is rare, accounting for 4% of cervical carcinomas. However, it is often correlated with diethylstilbestrol (DES) exposure in utero...

BACKGROUND: Polyps of the uterine cervix are one of the most common benign hyperplastic lesions occurring in the female genital tract that usually arise from the endocervical canal and are believed to be the result of reactive changes due to long-standing chronic inflammation, multiparty, and foreign bodies. Cervical polyps are usually small in size (less than 4 cm) that are commonly found in adult women; however, a few cases of giant polyps and the rare occurrence of these lesions in children have also been reported...

Russell boy cervicitis is a rare form of cervicits characterised by the accumulation of intracytoplasmic eosinophilic inclusion bodies in the plasma cells. Extensive literature search revealed previous four reported cases of Russell body cervicitis. Here, we report a case of Russell body cervicitis in a 44-year-old female who presented with recurrent endocervical polyps.

Embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma of the uterine cervix is a rare neoplasm which is almost invariably associated with pathogenic somatic or germline DICER1 mutations; patients with germline mutations have DICER1 syndrome. We report 2 subtle cervical embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, one occurring in a 21-yr-old woman with a known history of DICER1 syndrome and the other in a 19-yr-old woman with no history of DICER1 syndrome or DICER1-associated neoplasms. Both neoplasms focally involved otherwise benign endocervical polyps and were characterized histologically by subtle areas of increased stromal cellularity, nuclear atypia and mitotic activity; there was focal nuclear staining of these areas with the skeletal muscle markers myogenin and myoD1...

Cervical ectopic prostatic tissue and vaginal tubulosquamous polyp are rare lesions which exhibit variable, and often focal, immunohistochemical expression with traditional prostatic markers [prostate-specific antigen and prostatic acid phosphatase (PSAP)]. These lesions are thought to arise from periurethral Skene's glands, the female equivalent of prostatic glands in the male. Adenoid basal carcinoma is a rare and indolent cervical neoplasm. Expression of the prostatic marker NKX3.1 in ectopic prostatic tissue and tubulosquamous polyp has been reported but no studies have examined immunoreactivity with this marker in adenoid basal carcinoma...

BACKGROUND: The differential diagnosis for women who present with a vaginal mass after undergoing a hysterectomy is dependent on the indication, type and timing of the hysterectomy. The differential diagnosis includes cervical dysplasia, malignancy, nabothian cysts, prolapsed endocervical polyp/fibroid, abscess, hematoma, granulation tissue, or dehiscence with organ evisceration. CASE: We introduce a case of a woman who presented with a vaginal apex mass and had a remote history of a total hysterectomy for an unknown indication...

AIMS: A unique fibrosarcoma-like tumour of the uterine cervix harbouring a rearrangement of a neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor (NTRK) gene (NTRK1 or NTRK3) has recently been described in 11 young women, some with recurrence and/or metastasis. The aims of this study were to expand the morphological spectrum of this tumour by reporting three additional cases that showed adenosarcoma-like features not previously described, one of which is the first reported to respond to targeted therapy, and to evaluate 19 conventional uterine adenosarcomas for evidence of NTRK rearrangement...

A 42-year-old female with unremarkable medical history presented for a routine cervical screening upon which an endocervical polyp was identified and submitted entirely for histopathologic evaluation. Microscopic examination showed multiple well-circumscribed nodular fragments of polyp with superficial erosion and focal acute inflammation. Benign endocervical glands were seen within a fibrotic stroma with a prominent smooth muscle component. Intermixed mature adipose tissue and large thick-walled vessels were also identified...

METHODS: Laryngeal smears, using endocervical-type brushes, and punch biopsies were procured from each patient...

This report documents an uncommon case of choristomatous cervical polyp-containing fat tissue. The patient was a 24-year-old female who presented with irregular intermenstrual bleeding. On examination, a polypoid lesion with smooth outlines, measuring 1 cm in diameter was removed. Microscopic examination demonstrated abnormal fibrous stroma, devoid of endocervical glands, containing mature adipose tissue, and thick-walled blood vessels. The lesion was covered by a typical mature squamous cell outer lining. To the best of our knowledge, this is only the second report of an adipose tissue arising from the cervical wall...

Cervical polyp is very rare in pregnancy, usually asymptomatic and small. There are several reports of different sizes of cervical polyp in pregnancy but, huge cervical polyp causing funnelling and shortening of cervical length was first reported in 2014. It was managed by polypectomy causing cervical length to return to normal value. We present the second case report in literature of a huge endocervical polyp in pregnancy that caused funnelling and shortening of cervical length. Unlike the earlier report this patient presented with preterm contractions and antepartum haemorrhage (APH)...
