Copper(L2 Cu) and vanadium(L2 VOCl) complexes of N-p-tolylbenzohydroxamic acid (LH) ligand have been investigated for DNA binding efficacy by multiple analytical, spectral, and computational techniques. The results revealed that complexes as groove binders as evidenced by UV absorption. Fluorescence studies including displacement assay using classical intercalator ethidium bromide as fluorescent probe also confirmed as groove binders. The viscometric analysis too supports the inferences as strong groove binders for both the complexes...

Modulating the electrical properties of two-dimensional (2D) materials is a fundamental prerequisite for their development to advanced electronic and optoelectronic devices. Substitutional doping has been demonstrated as an effective method for tuning the band structure in monolayer 2D materials. Here, we demonstrate a facile selective-area growth of vanadium-doped molybdenum disulfide (V-doped MoS2 ) flakes via pre-patterned vanadium-metal-assisted chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Optical microscopy characterization revealed the presence of flake arrays...

Vanadium oxides exhibit promising characteristics for electrochemical energy storage, owing to their capability to switch between different oxidation states, in combination with the incorporation of alkali metals. Here, we report on a systematic investigation of the mechanochemical reduction of V2 O5 with NaH. In contrast to conventional high-temperature synthesis methods, the mechanochemical reaction occurs already after a few minutes. We observed a mixture of different (sodium) vanadium oxides with vanadium oxidation states ranging from +III to +V...

ConspectusBuckminsterfullerene, C60 , was discovered through a prominent mass peak containing 60 atoms produced from laser vaporization of graphite, driven by Kroto's interest in understanding the formation mechanisms of carbon-containing molecules in space. Inspired by the geodesic dome-shaped architecture designed by Richard Buckminster Fuller, after whom the particle was named, C60 was found to have a football-shaped structure comprising 20 hexagons and 12 pentagons. It sparked worldwide interest in understanding this new carbon allotrope, resulting in the awarding of the Noble Prize in Chemistry to Smalley, Kroto, and Curl in 1996...

The revelation of MoS2 as an efficient electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing material has ratcheted up people's attention to other transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). To date, extensive studies have been conducted on the semiconducting VIB-Group TMDs while research into metallic VB-Group TMDs has been relatively rare. In this work, we successfully fabricated VB-Group VSe2 microspheres through a facile one-step hydrothermal method and used them as EMW absorbers. The flowerlike VSe2 microspheres based on VSe2 nanosheets exhibited a minimum reflection loss of 46...

Electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation to ammonia (NH3 ), a precursor for fertilizer production and a promising energy carrier, has garnered widespread interest as an environment-friendly and sustainable alternative to the energy-intensive fossil-feedstock-dependent Haber-Bosch process. The large-scale deployment of this process is contingent on the identification of inexpensive, Earth-abundant systems that can operate efficiently, irrespective of the electrolyte pH for the selective production of NH3 . In this regard, we discuss the scalable synthesis of VO2 anchored on N-doped carbon (VO2@CN), and its applicability as a robust electrocatalyst for the nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR)...

To address this issue, we used titanium carbide (Ti3 C2 T x ) MXene coating via drop-casting to introduce oxygen functional groups and metals on the carbon electrode surface. In this paper, a series of F-doped V2 O5 -WO3 /TiO2 catalysts with different V2 O5 and WO3 loading orders were synthesized to investigate the effect of denitration performance at low temperatures.
