BACKGROUND: Migrants in the UK and Europe face vulnerability to vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) due to missed childhood vaccines and doses and marginalisation from health systems. Ensuring migrants receive catch-up vaccinations, including MMR, Td/IPV, MenACWY, and HPV, is essential to align them with UK and European vaccination schedules and ultimately reduce morbidity and mortality. However, recent evidence highlights poor awareness and implementation of catch-up vaccination guidelines by UK primary care staff, requiring novel approaches to strengthen the primary care pathway...

BACKGROUND: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) shows a significant overlap of symptoms with other hyper-inflammatory diseases such as Kawasaki disease (KD), but the real difference of the two conditions is still matter of debate. Coronary artery lesions (CAL) are the most relevant complication in KD. Nonetheless, CAL, myocarditis, pericarditis, arrhythmia are the main cardiovascular complications in MIS-C. A close clinical assessment is mandatory, both at the diagnosis and during the follow-up, by ECG and echocardiography...

BACKGROUND: Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) is a feeding/eating disorder characterized by avoidance/restriction of food intake by volume and/or variety. The emergence of shape/weight-related eating disorder symptoms in the longitudinal course of ARFID is an important clinical phenomenon that is neither robustly documented nor well understood. We aimed to characterize the emergence of eating disorder symptoms among adults with an initial diagnosis of ARFID who ultimately developed other eating disorders...

BACKGROUND: Insulin resistance (IR) plays an important role in the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease. Recent studies have shown that diabetes mellitus and impaired lipid metabolism are associated with the severity and prognosis of idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH). However, the relationship between IR and pulmonary hypertension is poorly understood. This study explored the association between four IR indices and IPAH using data from a multicenter cohort. METHODS: A total of 602 consecutive participants with IPAH were included in this study between January 2015 and December 2022...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Increasing longevity and advances in treatment have increased the cancer burden in the elderly, resulting in complex follow-up care needs; however, in China, little is known about the follow-up care preferences of these patients. This study quantified older cancer patients' preferences for follow-up care and examined the trade-offs they are willing to make to accept an alternative follow-up model. Multiscale agent-based modeling frameworks have recently emerged as promising mechanobiological models to capture the interplay between biomechanical forces, cellular behavior, and molecular pathways underlying restenosis following percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA). However, their applications are mainly limited to idealized scenarios. Herein, a multiscale agent-based modeling framework for investigating restenosis following PTA in a patient-specific superficial femoral artery (SFA) is proposed. The framework replicates the 2-month arterial wall remodeling in response to the PTA-induced injury and altered hemodynamics, by combining three modules: (i) the PTA module, consisting in a finite element structural mechanics simulation of PTA, featuring anisotropic hyperelastic material models coupled with a damage formulation for fibrous soft tissue and the element deletion strategy, providing the arterial wall damage and post-intervention configuration, (ii) the hemodynamics module, quantifying the post-intervention hemodynamics through computational fluid dynamics simulations, and (iii) the tissue remodeling module, based on an agent-based model of cellular dynamics...
