A 70-year-old man with a history of small cell lung carcinoma 2 years earlier was addressed for the suspicion of a paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis. Brain 18FDG PET/CT revealed a bilateral amygdalian and hippocampal hypermetabolism, confirming a limbic encephalitis, and concurrent whole-body 18FDG PET/CT showed a small cell lung carcinoma plurifocal metastatic recurrence, consistent with a paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis. 18FDG PET/CT follow-up under chemotherapy revealed an almost complete normalization of brain metabolism and a partial metabolic response of the metastatic recurrence, consistent with the good clinical neurological evolution of the patient...

Adrenal incidentalomas are regularly encountered during imaging for esophageal cancer patients, but their oncological significance remains unknown. This study aimed to describe the incidence and etiology of adrenal incidentalomas observed throughout the diagnostic workup. This retrospective cohort study included all esophageal cancer patients referred to or diagnosed in the Amsterdam UMC between January 2012 and December 2016. Radiology and multidisciplinary team meeting reports were reviewed for adrenal incidentalomas...

A 60-year-old woman diagnosed with clear cell endometrial carcinoma received neoadjuvant chemotherapy. However, the patient was inoperable and referred to our clinic to evaluate the extent of the disease. The patient underwent 18FDG PET/CT and 68Ga-FAPI (fibroblast activated protein inhibitor)-04 PET/CT scans. 68Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT outperformed 18FDG PET/CT demonstrating higher uptake in the metastatic lesions.

This is, to our knowledge, the first case report with in-depth analysis of bone marrow and bone lesions with diffusion-weighted imaging and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI in Erdheim-Chester disease to date. We present a case of a 70-year-old woman who was referred for an X-ray of the pelvis, right femur and right knee after complaints of migratory arthralgia in hip and knee five months after an initial hip and knee trauma. Bone lesions on X-ray were identified. This case report highlights the strength and complementary use of modern multimodality multiparametric imaging techniques in the clinical radiological manifestations of Erdheim-Chester disease, in the differential diagnosis and in treatment response assessment, which is classically performed using 18 FDG PET-CT...

PURPOSE: Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CART) prolongs survival for patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The recently introduced International Metabolic Prognostic Index (IMPI) was shown to improve prognostication in the first-line treatment of large B-cell lymphoma. Here, we investigate the prognostic value of the IMPI for progression-free (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in the setting of CD19 CART. METHODS: Consecutively treated patients with baseline 18 F-FDG PET/CT imaging and follow-up imaging at 30 days after CART were included...

To evaluate the role of 18FDG-WBPET-CT, Examination under anesthesia (EUA), and multiple-site biopsy in detecting the occult site in head & neck carcinoma of unknown primary (HN-CUP). In this prospective study, 22 patients with diagnosed CUP, after a thorough outpatient endoscopic evaluation of upper airway and radiological evaluation (CT/MRI) that ruled out a primary lesion were included. These patients subsequently underwent whole-body PET-CT and EUA. Based on the presence of suspicious findings ( +) or their absence (-) on 18FDG-WBPET-CT (P) and EUA (E), we divided the patients into 5 groups: P-E-, P-E + , P + E-, P + E + , and P + or E + ...

BACKGROUND AND AIM: The optimal imaging test for gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation in non-spine bone metastases has not been defined. The use of stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) requires accurate target delineation. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and/or 18 fludesoxyglucose positron emission tomography (18FDG-PET) allow for better visualization of the extent of bone metastases and optimizes the accuracy of tumor delineation for stereotactic radiotherapy compared to computed tomography (CT) alone...

We aimed to examine the accuracy of tumor staging of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) by using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET-CT). From January 2001 to December 2021, 202 patients underwent PET-CT, CT, and MRI for the initial staging of ICC in two institutions. Among them, 102 patients had undergone surgical treatment. Ninety patients who had a histopathological diagnosis of ICC were retrospectively reviewed. The sensitivity and specificity of 18F-FDG PET-CT, CT, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in detecting tumors, satellite focus, vascular invasion, and lymph node metastases were analyzed...

Pineal gland tumors are an infrequent central nervous system manifestation. Their prevalence is only less than 1% of all central nervous system tumors. They generally involve children or young adults aged younger than 40 years. Extracranial or spinal drop metastases are very rare from pineal gland tumors. In this case, 18FDG PET/CT demonstrates drops in metastases involving the entire length of the spinal as well as multiple other intracranial metastatic lesions.

Translational Relevance: Evaluation of targeted therapies is urgently needed for the majority of patients with metastatic/recurrent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) who progress after immunochemotherapy. Erlotinib, a targeted inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor pathway, lacks FDA approval in HNSCC due to inadequate tumor response. This study identifies two potential avenues to improve tumor response to erlotinib among patients with HNSCC. For the first time, this study shows that an increased erlotinib dose of 300 mg in smokers is well-tolerated and produces similar plasma drug concentration as the regular dose of 150 mg in non-smokers, with increased study-specific defined tumor response...

Although treatment resistance to antidepressant pharmacotherapy is quite common, the phenomenon of refractory major depressive disorder (rMDD) is not well understood. Nevertheless, the metabolic activity of the subgenual anterior cingulate cortex (sgACC) has been put forward as a possible metabolic biomarker of clinical prediction and response, albeit sgACC lateralization differences in functional connectivity have not yet been extensively examined. Also not in the refractory depressed state. To examine sgACC lateralization differences in metabolic connectivity, we recruited 43 right-handed antidepressant-free unipolar melancholic rMDD patients and 32 right-handed healthy controls to participate in this 18FDG PET study and developed a searchlight-based interregional covariance connectivity approach...
