PURPOSE: A combined body weight loss and upper body/arm exercise programme is a potential strategy for managing Breast cancer related lymphoedema (BCRL), but there is limited data on the best method for delivery or its potential efficacy. METHODS: Fifty-seven women with overweight/obesity and BCRL were randomised to a 12 week supervised (n = 12) or home-based combined weight loss and upper body/arm exercise programme (n = 16), a home-based upper-body arm exercise only programme (n = 17) or standard care (n = 12)...

The quality of parenting program implementation significantly affects the extent to which a program is delivered effectively as well as the likelihood of it becoming embedded in everyday services. The group based Parenting for Lifelong Health for Young Children (PLH-YC) program for parents of children aged 2-9 years was developed specifically for implementation in low- and middle-income contexts, has been tested in five randomized trials, and incorporates a number of strategies to encourage fidelity of delivery...

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is defined as involuntary leakage of urine on physical effort and is prevalent among power- and weightlifters. However, there is scant knowledge on treatment options for this population. The aim of this pilot study was to evaluate the potential outcomes and feasibility of a pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) program on SUI in nulliparous female power- and weightlifters. METHODS: This was a case-series study, including one weightlifter and two powerlifters aged 21-32 years...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Skeletal muscle is characterized by its mass, strength and performance. These normative values are pivotal in defining sarcopenia. Sarcopenia is associated with poor outcome of numerous medical and surgical conditions. This study aimed to establish normative benchmarks for skeletal muscle mass, strength and performance within the context of the Asian (Indian) population. METHODS: Our investigation utilized the computed tomography (CT) skeletal muscle index (SMI), handgrip strength (HGS), gait velocity and chair-stand test to construct reference values for muscle characteristics in the Indian population...

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of scanning modes on the accuracy of the Trios for full-arch digital implant impressions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The trueness and precision of the intraoral scanning mode (IOSM) and the intraoral edentulous scanning mode (IOEM) of the Trios were evaluated in three edentulous models, each featuring 4, 6, and 8 implant analogues. Reference scanning data were obtained by scanning each model with a desktop scanner...

Cannabis and its major constituents, Δ9 -tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), are being widely used to treat sleep disturbances. However, THC can cause acute cognitive and psychomotor impairment and there are concerns that driving and workplace safety might be compromised the day after evening use. Here, we examined possible 'next day' impairment following evening administration of a typical medicinal cannabis oil in adults with insomnia disorder, compared to matched placebo. This paper describes the secondary outcomes of a larger study investigating the effects of THC/CBD on insomnia disorder...

BACKGROUND: Psychological trauma refers to long-lasting adverse effects on well-being precipitated by the experience of a distressing event or a combination of events. High rates of psychological birth trauma in patients contribute to secondary traumatic stress (STS) in perinatal nurses, creating workplace challenges and resulting in dissatisfaction, apathy, and attrition. Perinatal nurses experience high rates of STS, and researchers have called for a universal standard of trauma-informed care (TIC)...

Understanding patient non-adherence to prescribed antibiotics can inform clinical practices, patient counseling, and antibiotic efficacy study design in dermatology. The primary objective was to determine the rate of and reasons for antibiotic non-adherence in the dermatologic surgery setting. The secondary objective was to test the applicability of previously studied survey questions for antibiotic non-adherence screening in the dermatologic surgery setting. Five academic outpatient dermatologic surgery centers across the United States conducted one multicenter prospective cohort study...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the psychometric properties of a patient-reported outcome measure, The Automated Insulin Delivery - Benefits and Burdens Scale (AID-BBS), which was designed to assess benefits and burdens of AID use in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The measure was hypothesized to have validity, reliability, and clinical utility for predicting likelihood of continued use of an AID system. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: 217 adults with T1D (ages 18 to 82 years) who were enrolled in an AID system research trial completed AID-BBS items at study midpoint (6 weeks) and at the end of the trial (13 weeks)...

We evaluated whether the quantification of IgG to pneumococcal capsular polysaccharides is an accurate diagnostic test for pneumococcal infection in children with pneumonia in Nepal. Children with pneumococcal pneumonia did not have higher convalescent, or higher fold change, IgG to pneumococcal polysaccharides than children with other causes of pneumonia. Caution is needed in interpreting antibody responses in pneumococcal infections.

Evening chronotype is known to be associated with various chronic diseases and cardiovascular risk factors. Metabolic syndrome is a group of conditions that together raise the risk of coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and other serious health problems. Only a few studies have been published on the association between chronotype and metabolic syndrome in unselected population data, with conflicting results. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between chronotype and metabolic syndrome at population level by using unselected Northern Finland Birth cohort 1966 (NFBC1966) database...

Our primary objectives in this study were to translate and provide psychometric support for the Coach Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q) Portuguese version, assess its invariance across sex, and explore its nomological validity in relation to enjoyment. Our sample participants were 470 athletes (226 females, 244 males) aged between 16 to 39 years from various individual and team sports. We found that the translated Portuguese version of the CART-Q exhibited satisfactory test-retest reliability and can serve as a reliable tool for evaluating the core constructs of the coach-athlete relationship - closeness, commitment, and complementarity...
