INTRODUCTION: Burkitt Lymphoma is the fastest growing tumor in human and the commonest of the childhood malignancies. Generalized lymphadenopathy is a common feature of immunodeficiency associated Burkitt lymphoma but an uncommon presentation of the endemic type in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) negative children. CASE PRESENTATION: The authors report a 6 year old HIV negative boy who presented with generalized lymphadenopathy, cough, weight loss, fever and drenching night sweat and had received native medication as well as treatment in private hospitals...

Infectious proctitis may mimic inflammatory bowel disease, particularly when limited to the rectum. The present case report includes findings from a 50-year-old man, soldier, referring to our Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit with a diagnosis of rectal Crohn's disease, refractory to conventional treatments. Mild anemia, hypergammaglobulinemia and HIV-antibodies seronegativity were detected. Entero-MRI and stool examinations were negative. Ileocolonoscopy detected few rectal ulcers with irregular edges. Endosonography showed marked thickening of the rectal wall and enlarged perirectal lymphnodes...

INTRODUCTION: Adjuvant hormone therapy is the standard treatment after total prostatectomy with positive lymph node. However, this treatment has side effects and at the time of the PSA era and extensive lymph node dissection, this principle is questioned. The aim of this study is to describe the oncological characteristics of patients that may explain the delay in introducing hormone therapy in patients with positive lymph node. METHODS: Monocentric, retrospective study of 161 patients from November 1988 to February 2018 in a single French University Hospital, having undergone radical prostatectomy with positive lymph nodes on pathology...

OBJECTIVE: To assess the diagnostic performance of Gallium-68 prostate-specific membrane antigen PET-computed tomography (Ga-PSMA PET-CT) in primary lymphnodal staging of patients with intermediate-risk and high-risk prostate cancer and to compare it with multiparametric MRI (mp-MRI) whenever available. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Ga-PSMA PET-CT scans of 51 patients (average age 66.0 ± 7.0 years) with biopsy-proven intermediate-risk and high-risk prostatic cancer who were managed by radical prostatectomy and extended pelvic lymph nodal dissection were retrospectively analyzed...

BACKGROUND: Some Trials have demonstrated that the rate of false negative results of a sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy is >10%. The aim of this study is to identify the predictive factors of a pathologic complete response in the axilla in order to make a better choice between the performance of an axillary lymphadenectomy or the performance of a sentinel lymph node biopsy. METHODS: All patients diagnosed with positive axillary lymph nodes and achieving a clinical complete response after a neoadjuvant therapy were the object of our study...

Introduction: Lung cancer is diagnosed at advanced stage due to lack of early disease symptoms. Currently we have several different biopsy techniques such as; radial endobronchial ultrasound, convex probe endobronchial ultrasound, electromagnetic navigation, ct guided biospy and transthoracic ultrasound biopsy. Novel therapies such as; immunotherapy is being used for non-small cell lung cancer in the everyday clinical practice as first and second line treatment. Programmed ligand-1 is essential in order to administer immunotherapy as first line treatment...

BACKGROUND: The role of Cartridge based Nucleic Acid Amplification test (CBNAAT) in the diagnosis of lymphnode TB which helps in reducing the mortality and morbidity by early identification and initiating treatment at the earliest. Also helps in identify the drug resistance among tubercular lymphnodes cases. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A prospective clinical study was performed in 101 suspected lymph node tuberculosis patients. The results of FNAC and/or excision biopsy of lymphnode samples obtained by CBNAAT were compared with direct smear microscopy for AFB bacilli, cytology and their combination considering AFB culture as gold standard...

A 79 year-old-man visited our hospital with right back pain. Computed tomography suggested external iliac and para-aortic lymphadenopathy. Serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) increased to 335 ng/ml and prostate cancer was highly suspected. We performed transperineal prostate biopsies two times, but could not detect prostate carcinoma cells. Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) indicated no suspicious malignant lesions in the prostate. Laparoscopic biopsy of the right obturator lymph nodes was performed and histological examination, including immunohistochemical staining with PSA, confirmed lymphnode metastasis from prostate cancer...

BACKGROUND: Endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is well known as an important technique for diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. Background: BRAF V600E (c.1799T>A) somatic mutation evaluation in fine needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB) is a powerful diagnostic tool in the settings of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). However, its prognostic value is still a matter of great debate and has been addressed mostly in retrospective studies. Objectives: To evaluate whether the somatic BRAF V600E mutation, assessed by direct sequencing in FNAB material of thyroid nodules, may correlate with disease persistence in PTC patients...

Colorectal large-cell neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) are extremely rare and have very poor prognosis compared to adenocarcinomas. A 74-year-old man presented with abdominal pain, diarrhea and hematochezia. The histopathologic report of colonoscopic biopsy performed at a local clinic was a poorly differentiated carcinoma. An abdominopelvic computed scan revealed irregularly enhanced wall thickening at the sigmoid colon with regional fat stranding and lymphnode enlargement. He underwent a laparoscopic high anterior resection with selective peritonectomy for peritoneal carcinomatosis, intraoperative peritoneal irrigation chemotherapy, and early postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy for 5 days...

Leprosy is a chronic granulomatous disease involving the skin and nerves, leading to a debilitating condition. Leprosy has been controlled in most parts of the world; therefore physicians are not very well versed in the recognition, management and assessment of this disease. The protean manifestations of leprosy often lead to delays in diagnosis and increase the morbidity. We present a case of a 33-year-old male with fever, lymphadenopathy, nodular skin lesions, uveitis and arthritis. Lymphnode, bonemarrow and skin biopsy revealed 3+ AFB smear with negative AFB cultures, leading to the diagnosis of leprosy...

Occult breast cancer, which develops as a metastatic lesion with no primary tumor detected in the breast, is a rare breast cancer. A 68-year-old female patient particularly complained of the presence of a right axillary mass. The mass in the right axilla was palpable, but no tumor was found in both the breasts on palpation, ultrasound examination, or MRI. Partial breast resection and axillary lymph node dissection were performed following a diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma by core needle biopsy. There was no mammary gland tissue present around the tumor due to the pathology of the disease, and the tumor was diagnosed as occult breast cancer...
