Emerging organic photoelectrochemical transistors (OPECTs) with inherent amplification capabilities, good biocompatibility and even self-powered operation have emerged as a promising detection tool, however, they are still not widely studied for pollutant detection. In this paper, a novel OPECT dual-mode aptasensor was constructed for the ultrasensitive detection of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). MXene/In2 S3 /In2 O3 Z-scheme heterojunction was used as a light fuel for ion modulation in sensitive gated OPECT biosensing...

We have developed a self-powered near-infrared photodetector (PD) with high detectivity using a tensile strained Ge layer capped with a thick Si layer. The Si layer acts as a stressor and maintains the strain of Ge with minimal dislocations by creating a rough surface. By using Raman spectroscopy, we confirmed that the Ge layer has a 1.83% in-plane tensile strain. The Ge PD exhibits a high responsivity of 0.45 A/W at -1 V bias voltage for 940 nm wavelength. The PD's dark current density is as low as ∼1...

Self-powered deep ultraviolet photodetectors (DUV PDs) are essential in environmental monitoring, flame detection, missile guidance, aerospace, and other fields. A heterojunction photodetector based on p-CuI/n-ZnGa2 O4 has been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition combined with vacuum thermal evaporation. Under 260 nm DUV light irradiation, the photodetector exhibits apparent self-powered performance with a maximum responsivity and specific detectivity of 2.75 mA/W and 1.10 × 1011 Jones at 0 V...

Ultraviolet photodetectors (UV PDs) have attracted significant attention due to their wide range of applications, such as underwater communication, biological analysis, and early fire warning systems. Indium oxide (In2 O3 ) is a candidate for developing high-performance photoelectrochemical (PEC)-type UV PDs owing to its high UV absorption and good stability. However, the self-powered photoresponse of the previously reported In2 O3 -based PEC UV PDs is unsatisfactory. In this work, high-performance self-powered PEC UV PDs were constructed by using an In2 O3 nanocube film (NCF) as a photoanode...

Recently, certain ferroelectric tunnel junctions (FTJs) exhibit non-volatile modulations on photoresponse as well as tunneling electroresistance (TER) effects related to ferroelectric polarization states. From the opposite perspective, the corresponding polarization states can be read by detecting the levels of the photocurrent. In this study, we fabricate a novel amorphous selenium (a-Se)/PbZr0.2 Ti0.8 O3 (PZT)/Nb-doped SrTiO3 (NSTO) heterojunction, which exhibits a high TER of 3 × 106 . Unlike perovskite oxide FTJs with a limited ultraviolet response, the introduction of a narrow bandgap semiconductor (a-Se) enables self-powered photoresponse within the visible light range...

Extreme climates have become frequent nowadays, causing increased heat stress in human daily life. Personal thermal management (PTM), a technology that controls the human body's microenvironment, has become a promising strategy to address heat stress. While effective in ordinary environments, traditional high-performance fibers, such as ultrafine, porous, highly thermally conductive, and phase change materials, fall short when dealing with harsh conditions or large temperature fluctuations. Aerogels, a third-generation superinsulation material, have garnered extensive attention among researchers for their thermal management applications in building energy conservation, transportation, and aerospace, attributed to their extremely low densities and thermal conductivity...

Conducting polymers with intrinsic conductivity and flexibility are ideal active materials for FSCs. However, they suffer from poor cycling stability due to huge volume variations during operation cycles. Two-dimensional (2D) materials play a critical role in FSCs, but restacking and aggregation limit their practical application. Nanocomposites of conducting polymers and 2D materials can mitigate the above-mentioned drawbacks...
