INTRODUCTION: Popliteal vein aneurysm is a rare, but potentially life-threatening condition that can lead to deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism. A subclavian artery aneurysm after clavicle fracture and plate osteosynthesis in a suspected case of a screw that was too long led us to investigate body donor cadavers. Since 2013 it is mandatory for all centers in the Netherlands to register outcomes of all aortic aneurysm repairs in the Dutch Surgical Aneurysm Audit (DSAA). Three patients with acute severe neck pain, presented with and without neurological deficits. One patient had severe neck pain followed by autonomic dysfunction, aphagia and dysarthria. A late complication of aortic dissection is the dilatation of the weakened aortic wall.
