INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma (EMZL lymphoma), also known as mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, is a rare B-cell lymphoma that rarely affects children. The involvement of infectious agents, especially H. pylori , has been observed in the formation and progression of MALT lymphoma in the stomach. Hematemesis as the primary clinical manifestation is uncommon, highlighting the need for case studies with this presentation. This article uses SCARE2023 criteria as a framework to sort out a case report in order...

Primary testicular lymphoma (PTL) is a rare lymphoma predominantly occurring in the elderly male population. It is characterized by a limited response to treatment and a heightened tendency towards relapse. Histologically, approximately 90% of PTL cases are classified as diffuse large B-cell lymphomas (DLBCL). Genetic features of PTL were delineated in a limited scope within several independent studies. Some of the articles which analyzed the genetic characterization of DLBCL have incorporated PTL samples, but these have been constrained by small sample sizes...

BACKGROUND/AIM: Stage migration, a phenomenon triggered by technological advancements allowing more sensitive tumor spread detection, results in alterations in the distribution of cancer stages within a population. Canine multicentric lymphoma is staged I to V based on the affected anatomic site(s) and substage a or b depending on the presence of tumor-related clinical signs. The primary objective of this study was to assess the influence of various diagnostic techniques on staging accuracy and determine whether multiple staging methods lead to significant stage migration, impacting the reliability of disease stage assignments...

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) persistently infects 95% of adults worldwide and is associated with multiple human lymphomas that express characteristic EBV latency programs used by the virus to navigate the B-cell compartment. Upon primary infection, the EBV latency III program, comprised of six Epstein-Barr Nuclear Antigens (EBNA) and two Latent Membrane Protein (LMP) antigens, drives infected B-cells into germinal center (GC). By incompletely understood mechanisms, GC microenvironmental cues trigger the EBV genome to switch to the latency II program, comprised of EBNA1, LMP1 and LMP2A and observed in GC-derived Hodgkin lymphoma...

Lymphomas are a diverse group of malignant proliferations that arise as discrete tissue masses. The most widely accepted taxonomy for lymphoma is the World Health Organization classification of tumours of haematopoietic and lymphoid tissues, the 5th edition of which was released in June 2022. Most (85% to 90%) lymphoid neoplasms are of B cell origin. Mature B-cell neoplasms are a heterogeneous group of malignancies with similar disease courses and treatment paradigms. This review focuses on the various mature B-cell lymphomas in Malaysia, including Hodgkin lymphoma...

Increased oxidative stress is one of the critical pathologies inducing age-related macular degeneration (AMD), characterized by retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cell damage and death. The unbalanced acetylation and deacetylation of histones have been implicated in AMD pathogenesis or hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 )-induced cell damage. Therefore, strategies aimed at controlling the balance between acetylation and deacetylation may effectively protect RPE cells from oxidative damage. Artemisinin is an antimalarial lactone drug derived from Artemisia annua , with antioxidant activity known to modulate histone acetylation in the brain, but its effect on the retina is unknown...

BACKGROUND: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) especially affects the older population. Old (≥60 years) and very old age (≥80 years) DLBCL patients often present high-risk molecular alterations, lower tolerability to conventional immunochemotherapy, and poor clinical outcomes. In this scenario, attenuated therapeutic strategies, such as the R-MiniCHOP and R-MiniCHOP of the elderly regimens, have emerged for this particularly fragile population. However, the responses, clinical outcomes, and toxicities of these regimens currently remain poorly understood, mainly because these individuals are not usually included in controlled clinical trials...

Oxidative stress causes gut dysfunction and is a contributing factor in several intestinal disorders. Intestinal epithelial cell survival is essential for maintaining human and animal health under oxidative stress. 18beta-Glycyrrhetinic acid (GA) is known to have multiple beneficial effects, including antioxidant activity; however, the underlying molecular mechanisms have not been well established. Thus, the present study evaluated the therapeutic effects of GA on H2 O2 -induced oxidative stress in intestinal porcine epithelial cells...

Primary vitreoretinal lymphoma (PVRL) is a rare subtype of DLBCL and can progress into primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL). To investigate the role of chronic antigenic stimulation in PVRL, we cloned and expressed B-cell receptors (BCR) from PVRL patients and tested for binding against human auto-antigens. SEL1L3, a protein with multiple glycosylation sites, was identified as the BCR target in 3/20 PVRL cases. SEL1L3 induces proliferation and BCR pathway activation in aggressive lymphoma cell lines...

RATIONALE: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare, highly malignant form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma categorized under the diffuse large B-cell type. It accounts for merely 1% of all non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases and comprises approximately 3% of all brain tumors. The involvement of the cerebellum is observed in only 9% of these cases. Recently, we came across an unusual instance: a young man presenting with multiple lesions located specifically within the cerebellum. BACKGROUND: Primary liver cancer (PHC) stands as one of the most prevalent malignant diseases in clinical settings. Studies have indicated that transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) treatment exhibits superior clinical outcomes, potentially increasing the complete necrosis rate in patients with PHC. A correlation exists between the clinical outcomes of TACE surgery and the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), yet the underlying mechanism remains a mystery. Hence, it is crucial to investigate the impact and mechanism of EMT on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)...
