BACKGROUND: The effect of the vitamin K antagonist (VKA) acenocoumarol on coagulation needs to be reversed when patients undergo an invasive procedure with considerable bleeding risk. A strategy to achieve this is administering oral vitamin K before a procedure while continuing acenocoumarol.
