BACKGROUND: Despite the benefits of the Stapled hemorrhoidopexy in the short term, management of prolapsing hemorrhoids, the long-term results are still insufficient, regarding recurrent prolapse and patient satisfaction so in our current study we add ligation anopexy to stapled hemorroidopexy. OBJECTIVE: Valuation of adding ligation anopexy to stapled hemorroidopexy in improving short and long-term results in the treatment of grade III-IV hemorrhoids. DATA SOURCES: Between January 2018 and January 2020 we recruited 124 patients with grade III-IV hemorrhoids, at Alexandria main university hospital...

INTRODUCTION: While haemorrhoidal dearterialization and mucopexy are accepted as a valid alternative to haemorrhoidectomy, differences exist regarding the fixed or variable location of the arteries to be ligated. Our aim was to throw light on this issue of arterial distribution in candidates for surgery. METHODS: Consecutively included were patients diagnosed with Goligher grade III and IV haemorrhoids, who underwent Doppler-guided haemorrhoid artery ligation (D-HAL) and rectoanal repair (RAR) in 2 medical centres in Spain...

One of the most common reasons to consult a coloproctologist is symptomatic haemorrhoids. Typical signs and symptoms as well as a specialised examination, including proctoscopy, are essential for the correct diagnosis. The vast majority of patients can be treated conservatively with excellent results in terms of quality of life. Sclerotherapy provides good control of symptoms at any stage of haemorrhoidal disease. If conservative treatment fails, there are various surgical options. A tailored approach is mandatory...

INTRODUCTION: Minimally invasive techniques still continue to maintain their popularity in hemorrhoidal disease. In this study, we aimed to present the symptomatic recovery and recurrence rates, post-operative pain levels, and complication rates of patients treated with the laser hemorrhoidoplasty (LHP) method in our clinic. METHODS: The data of patients who underwent LHP due to Grades 2, 3, and 4 internal hemorrhoidal disease in our clinic were reviewed retrospectively...

However, its long-term effectiveness remains unknown. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the long-term results of sclerotherapy using aluminum potassium sulfate and tannic acid for treating prolapsed hemorrhoids. The development of perianal ulcers related to the use of a hemorrhoidal ointment has not been reported in the literature. We describe a series of 11 patients who were treated for perianal ulcers in 10 Spanish hospitals after they used the same ointment containing the active ingredients triamcinolone acetonide, lidocaine, and pentosan polysulfate sodium. No prior or concomitant conditions suggesting an alternative cause for the condition could be identified, and after the patients stopped using the ointment, their ulcers cleared completely in 8 weeks on average...

BACKGROUND: Grade III-IV hemorrhoids require surgical treatment. The Milligan Morgan hemorrhoidectomy (MM) - still considered the gold standard - is now flanked by less invasive surgical methods such as Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorroids (PPH) and Transanal Hemorroidal Dearterialization (THD). The authors wanted to compare in a prospective, randomized trial the MM hemorrhoidectomy and the THD in the treatment of grade III-IV hemorrhoids. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between January 2010 and March 2013 they were recruited 87 patients with grade III-IV hemorrhoids...

The Miligan-Morgan's operation has long been considered to be the "golden standard" of hemorrhoids' stage I-III treatment. The invention of distal branches of the upper rectal artery' suture ligation with mucopexia and lifting of the anal canal mucosa discovered new possibilities for hemorrhoids surgery, though there are still some questions considering long-term results. 151 cases of recurrence within 1-6 months were analyzed. The use of CT-angiography with 3D reconstruction of the upper rectal artery allowed to chose the operative technique more relevant and thus improve the treatment results...

BACKGROUND AND AIM OF THE WORK: Patients with acute haemorrhoidal crisis often need of an immediate and effective pharmacological approach to alleviate their pain, bleeding and swelling or have to be referred by the general practitioner to the surgeon for a definitive treatment. Effective and not invasive treatment control of the acute crisis could be of practical use in order to avoid or to delay invasive procedures to a time more convenient for the patient and/or for the surgeon. METHODS: After enrolling, according to the group treatment, every patient starts taking 1 tablet every 8 hours for 7 days of Emospid or 2 tablets every 8 hours for 7 days of MMDH tablets...
