Constructing Z-scheme heterojunctions incorporating an exquisite hollow structure is an effective performance regulation strategy for the realization of high quantum efficiency and a strong redox ability over photocatalysts. Herein, we report the delicate design and preparation of a core-shell hollow CdS@CoTiO3 Z-scheme heterojunction with a CdS nanoparticle (NP)-constructed outer shell supported on a CoTiO3 nanorod (NR) inner shell. The in situ growth synthetic method led to a tightly connected interface for the heterojunction between CdS and CoTiO3 , which shortened the transport distance of photoinduced charges from the interface to the surface...

Quantum dots (QDs) with metal fluoride surface ligands were prepared via reaction with anhydrous oleylammonium fluoride. Carboxylate terminated II-VI QDs underwent carboxylate for fluoride exchange, while InP QDs underwent photochemical acidolysis yielding oleylamine, PH3 , and InF3 . The final photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) reached 83% for InP and near unity for core-shell QDs. Core-only CdS QDs showed dramatic improvements in PLQY, but only after exposure to air. Following etching, the InP QDs were bound by oleylamine ligands that were characterized by the frequency and breadth of the corresponding ν(N-H) bands in the infrared absorption spectrum...

Our research demonstrates the effectiveness of fluorescence quenching between polyethyleneimine functionalised carbon dots (PEI-CDs) and cyclodextrin encapsulated ferrocene for fluorogenic detection of nitric oxide (NO). We confirmed that ferrocene can be used as a NO probe by observing its ability to quench the fluorescence emitted from PEI-CDs, with NO concentrations ranging from 1 × 10-6  M to 5 × 10-4  M. The photoluminescence intensity (PL) of PEI-CDs decreased linearly, with a detection limit of 500 nM...

Cyclodextrins (CDs) are essential in the pharmaceutical industry and have long been used as food and pharmaceutical additives. CD-based interlocked molecules, such as rotaxanes, polyrotaxanes, catenanes, and polycatenanes, have been synthesized and have attracted considerable attention in supramolecular chemistry. Among them, CD polyrotaxanes have been employed as slide-ring materials and biomaterials. CD polycatenanes are new materials; therefore, to date, no examples of applied research on CD polycatenanes have been reported...

Ovarian dysfunction stands as a prevalent contributor to female infertility, with its etiology intertwined with genetic, autoimmune, and environmental factors. Within the ovarian follicles, granulosa cells (GCs) represent the predominant cell population. Alterations in GCs, notably oxidative stress (OS) and the consequential surge in reactive oxygen species (ROS), play pivotal roles in the orchestration of ovarian function. Nrf2aa, a newly identified upstream open reading frame (uORF), is situated within the 5' untranslated region (5'UTR) of sheep Nrf2 mRNA and is regulated by melatonin, a crucial intrafollicular antioxidant...

Cellulose-based adsorbents have been extensively developed in heavy metal capture and wastewater treatment. However, most of the reported powder adsorbents suffer from the difficulties in recycling due to their small sizes and limitations in detecting the targets for the lack of sensitive sensor moieties in the structure. Accordingly, carbon dots (CDs) were proposed to be encapsulated in cellulosic hydrogel beads to realize the simultaneous detection and adsorption of Hg (II) in water due to their excellent fluorescence sensing performance...

Cytoarchitectural staining is of great importance in disease diagnosis and cell biology research. This study developed user-friendly multifunctional red-emissive carbon dots (R-CDs) for rapid cell nucleus staining via targeting nuclear proteins. R-CDs, simply prepared by electrochemical treatment of 1,2,4-benzenetriamine, exhibit strong emission at 635 nm when excited at 507 nm. The R-CDs can rapidly stain the nucleus of human SH-SY5Y, HepG2, and HUH-7 cells with a high signal-to-noise ratio owing to fluorescence enhancement after entering the nucleus...

This scoping review systematically maps challenges and facilitators to longitudinal CDS that are applied at two or more timepoints for the same decision made by the same patient or clinician. This study explores the impact of thermal annealing gradients on the physical properties and structural evolution of cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanospheres capped with ammonium nitrate as a modifier, which were fabricated through precipitation and subsequent annealing within 160-480 °C temperature range. The properties were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques The XRD results show that the present CdS exhibits superior crystallinity compared to pure CdS without capping, transitions from a cubic to a hexagonal phase structure, and increases in crystallite size and crystallinity with increasing temperature...

Plasmonic semiconductors are promising candidates for developing energy conversion devices due to their tunable band gap, cost-effectiveness, and nontoxicity. Such materials exhibit remarkable capabilities for harvesting infrared photons, which constitute half of the solar energy spectrum. Herein, we have synthesized near-infrared (NIR) active Cu x In y S nanocrystals and Cu x In y S/CdS heterostructure nanocrystals (HNCs) to investigate plasmon-induced charge transfer dynamics on an ultrafast time scale. Employing femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, we demonstrate that upon exciting the HNCs with sub-band gap NIR photons (λ = 840 nm), the hot holes are generated in the valence band of plasmonic Cu x In y S and transferred to the adjacent semiconductor...
