IMPORTANCE: The people of Hawai'i have both high rates of health insurance and high levels of racial and ethnic diversity, but the degree to which insurance status and race and ethnicity contribute to health outcomes in COVID-19 remains unknown. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the associations of insurance coverage, race and ethnicity (using disaggregated race and ethnicity data), and vaccination with outcomes for COVID-19 hospitalization. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: This retrospective cohort study included hospitalized patients at a tertiary care medical center between March 2020 and March 2022...

BACKGROUND: This study explores patient acceptance of influenza vaccination administered by pharmacists in Romania during the 2023 season, considering it a novel strategy to address gaps in knowledge. Pharmacy-based vaccination deviates from traditional methods, providing high-risk patients with full reimbursement and others with 50% reimbursement, allowing a choice between family doctors and pharmacies for vaccine administration. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The survey includes 15 questions covering socio-demographic data, health information, vaccination preferences, and perceptions of pharmacy-based vaccinations...

Haemophilus parainfluenzae is a Gram-negative opportunist pathogen within the mucus of the nose and mouth without significant symptoms and has an ability to cause various infections ranging from ear, eye, and sinus to pneumonia. A concerning development is the increasing resistance of H. parainfluenzae to beta-lactam antibiotics, with the potential to cause dental infections or abscesses. The principal objective of this investigation is to utilize bioinformatics and immuno-informatic methodologies in the development of a candidate multi-epitope Vaccine...

Healthcare workers (HCWs) are a key population at high risk for hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) infections. We aim to study HBV vaccination coverage, seroprevalence, knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards HBV and HCV infections among HCWs in public sector in Cambodia. A nationally representative cross-sectional study was implemented in 2019, among Cambodian HCWs. A standardized questionnaire was administered to randomly selected HCWs whose blood was then sampled. We used univariate and multivariate regression to determine predictors of outcomes...

BACKGROUND: International retirement migration, which is the seasonal or permanent relocation of older people to another country, has grown in popularity in recent years. These retirees are motivated by the promise of warmer winter climates that are conducive to participating in health-promoting recreational and social activities. Ease of cross-border travel facilitates this transnational practice when undertaken seasonally. However, border closures and other travel-related measures put in place to manage the spread of COVID-19, disrupted travel, including for older Canadians who typically winter in the United States (US)...

METHODOLOGY: Pre-post community clinical trial. Implementation of the strategy was analyzed, and pre- and post-intervention VC were compared in two stages: P1 (pre-intervention) and P2 (post-intervention). BACKGROUND: While human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines have been available since 2006, the coverage has varied among countries. Our aim is to analyse the equity impact of HPV vaccination on the lifetime projections of cervical cancer burden among vaccinated cohorts of 2010-22 in 84 countries. METHODS: We used WHO and UNICEF estimates of national immunisation coverage for HPV vaccination in 84 countries during 2010-22. We used PRIME (Papillomavirus Rapid Interface for Modelling and Economics) to estimate the lifetime health impact of HPV vaccination on cervical cancer burden in terms of deaths, cases, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) averted by vaccination in their respective countries...

BACKGROUND: Vaccination has been an indispensable step in controlling the coronavirus disease pandemic. In early 2021, Bangladesh launched a mass vaccination campaign to boost the COVID-19 vaccination rate when doses were available and immunized millions in the country. INTRODUCTION: Nigeria offers universal hepatitis B birth-dose vaccine (HepB-BD) for the prevention and control of hepatitis B (HepB). While prior studies suggest low coverage of HepB-BD in Nigeria, there is a paucity of evidence on the association between the uptake of HepB-BD and maternal HepB status. Whopping cough (or Pertussis) is an acute infectious respiratory disease caused by Bordetella pertussis bacteria. The disease is highly transmissible and can be fatal in children under two years old. Since the introduction of vaccine immunization in 1940, Pertussis incidence decreased worldwide. In Brazil, the immunization was introduced in 1977 using the whole cell (wP) vaccine. Despite the high vaccination coverage, an unexpected increase in the number of observed Pertussis cases was observed in 2012. In this year, 2257 cases were reported exceeding the average incidence rate of <1000 cases per year until 2010...

BACKGROUND: Antenatal care (ANC) is a principal component of safe motherhood and reproductive health strategies across the continuum of care. Although the coverage of antenatal care visits has increased in Ethiopia, there needs to be more evidence of effective coverage of antenatal care. Nearly two-thirds of geriatric short-stay patients were eligible for pneumococcal vaccination. Among patients eligible for vaccination, less than 5 % had received at least one injection of pneumococcal vaccine on admission. We found no modifiable factors associated with vaccination status, but several avenues for improving vaccination coverage.
