INTRODUCTION: CD30 expression has been infrequently described in cutaneous B-cell lymphomas (CBCLs). We examined CD30 expression in reactive lymphoid hyperplasia (RLH) and CBCL and correlated expression with clinicopathologic features. METHODS: CD30 was examined in 82 CBCL patients and 10 RLH patients that had been evaluated in our cutaneous lymphoma clinics. The CBCL patients included: primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma (PCFCL), Grade 1/2 systemic/nodal follicular lymphoma (SFL); primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma/lymphoproliferative disorder (PCMZL/LPD); systemic marginal zone lymphoma (SMZL); primary cutaneous diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, leg type (PCDLBCL-LT); and extracutaneous/systemic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (eDLBCL)...

Erythema ab igne (EAI) is a skin condition caused by chronic heat-induced damage. The rash usually progresses over weeks to months of repeated or prolonged exposure to subthreshold-intensity infrared radiation that is not hot enough to cause a burn. The diagnosis is clinical based on patient history and physical examination, but a biopsy can reveal dilated vasculature, interface dermatitis, and pigment incontinence. Erythema ab igne initially was described in association with patients cooking over wood-fire stoves but has been shown over the decades to have a variety of causes...

Primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas (CBCL) are a heterogeneous group of B-cell lymphomas without evidence of extracutaneous disease at the time of diagnosis. The 2022 World Health Organization classification of mature lymphoid neoplasms differentiates the indolent primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoproliferative disorder, primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma and Epstein-Barr virus-positive mucocutaneous ulcer, from the more aggressive primary cutaneous diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, leg-type and intravascular large B-cell lymphoma...

Primary cutaneous posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLDs) after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant (allo-HSCT) are exceedingly rare, with only 6 published cases, all of them consisting in T-cell neoplasms. In this report, we present for the first time a donor-derived B-cell PTLD consisting in a primary, cutaneous, B-cell, marginal zone, lymphoproliferative disorder (PCMZLPD). The patient, a 37-year-old woman with a history of Hodgkin lymphoma received an allo-HSCT from her healthy, matched, related father, achieving complete host chimerism in the bone marrow and peripheral blood...

INTRODUCTION: The increased incidence of cutaneous melanoma (CM) and Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) in patients with hematologic malignancies (HM) is well established. While the risk of CM has been assessed in some subtypes of HM including cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, the incidence in patients with primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (PCBCL) has not been interrogated. METHODS: Here we evaluated the standardized incidence ratio (SIR) of CM and MCC in 5,179 PCBCL patients compared to approximately 1...

T-follicular helper (TFH) markers are expressed in the microenvironnement of marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (MZL), and in lymphomas arising from TFH-cells, sometimes making the differential diagnosis difficult. In the skin, the "TFH-spectrum" is poorly defined, going from primary cutaneous lymphoproliferative disorder with small/medium CD4+ T-cells (SMLPD) to cutaneous localizations of systemic angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (cAITL), and may pass through intermediate forms (primary cutaneous T-follicular helper derived lymphoma, not otherwise specified (PCTFHL,NOS))...

Primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma (PCMZL) is a low-grade malignant B-cell lymphoma that originates from the skin. It often presents as erythematous solitary or multiple papules, nodules, and/or plaques. It is one of the 3 main subtypes of primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas. PCMZLs are believed to develop from chronic antigenic stimulation such as from tick-borne bacteria, vaccines, tattoo pigment, or other foreign body. In addition, cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia, a documented precursor to malignant PCMZL, often presents in response to areas of chronic inflammation...

Introduction . Primary breast extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT lymphoma) is rare and understudied. Embryonically, mammary glands are developed as specialized skin appendages. It is possible that overlapping features exist between breast MALT lymphoma and primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma. Methods. We studied 5 primary and 6 secondary breast MALT lymphomas diagnosed in our institution during a 20-year period. Clinical and pathologic features of these lymphomas were analyzed and compared...

A wide variety of primary and secondary lymphoma types involves the skin. However, reports with comparisons between both groups are limited in Taiwan. We retrospectively enrolled all cutaneous lymphomas and evaluated their clinicopathologic features. There were 221 cases of lymphoma: 182 (82.3%) primary and 39 (17.7%) secondary. Mycosis fungoides was the most common primary T-cell lymphoma, 92 (41.7%) cases, followed by CD30-positive T-cell lymphoproliferative disorders including lymphomatoid papulosis (n = 33, 14...

Primary cutaneous B-cell lymphomas (PCBCLs) are very rare to be seen in pediatric and adolescent age group, especially primary cutaneous follicle center lymphoma (PCFCL) which is considered the least occurring main subtype. Here, we describe a 16-year-old girl who developed a slowly growing solitary firm smooth surfaced erythematous nodule over her forearm. Histopathological examination showed a dense dermal nodular, periadnexal and perivascular lymphoid infiltrate extending deep to the subcutis. Immunohistochemical staining showed a B-cell population with positivity for CD20, variable staining for BCL6 and CD10 and uniquely staining for BCL2...

The lymphadenopathy gradually enlarged, and physical examination and ultrasound (US) revealed one right axillary 6.99 cm and one right supraclavicular 2.36 cm lymphadenopathy. Histologic examination of the right axillary nodule revealed anaplastic large-cell lymphoma that was ALK negative and CD30 positive. BACKGROUND: Primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma (PCMZL) is a form of indolent lymphoproliferative disease where the disease is largely a cutaneous confined process. It is typically a neoplasm composed of post germinal small B-cells and light chain restricted plasma cells in a background of reactive T-cell hyperplasia and benign germinal centers. Rarely a significant degree of large cell infiltration occurs warranting the categorization as blastic marginal zone lymphoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We reviewed our data base over a time period of 2016 to 2022 for cases diagnosed as blastic MZL...

Pemphigus and lupus erythematosus are both B-cell-mediated autoimmune diseases, dependent on autoreactive CD4+ T lymphocytes to modulate autoimmune B-cell response. Many forms of pemphigus have been reported to occur in association with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) as well as other autoimmune diseases. However, it remains unclear whether this association occurs because of a shared immunopathogenesis or the coexistence may be coincidental. We hereby present a case report of discoid lupus erythematosus and paraneoplastic pemphigus associated with marginal zone lymphoma in a 54-year-old Thai man who had persistent oral erosions for 1 year together with generalized polymorphic cutaneous eruptions for 2 months...
