Current polysaccharide-based pneumococcal vaccines are effective but not compatible with all serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae. We previously developed an adjuvant-free cationic nanogel nasal vaccine containing pneumococcal surface protein A (PspA), which is expressed on the surfaces of all pneumococcal serotypes.
