Polyelectrolyte complex based micelles have attracted significant attention due to their potential regarding bio-applications. Although the morphology and functions have been studied extensively, dynamic properties, particularly component exchange with other surrounding molecules, have remained elusive to date. Here, we show how micelles based on metal-ligand coordination complex coacervate-core micelles (M-C3Ms) respond to addition of extra ligand and metal ions. The micelles are prepared from a polycationic-neutral diblock copolymer and an anionic coordination polyelectrolyte, which is obtained by coordination between metal ions (lanthanides Ln3+ and Zn2+ ) and a bis-ligand (LEO) containing two dipicolinic acid (DPA) groups connected by a tetra-ethylene oxide spacer (4EO)...

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EE) is a recent pathology defined by abnormal immune response of the esophageal mucosa to exogenous allergens, leading to chronic mucosa infiltration by 15 eosinophils per High-Power-Field (Eos/HPF). The present retrospective study was designed to assess the hospital care for children suffering from EE in several hospitals in western France in order to highlight discrepancies and improve future care. Twenty-eight children ranging from 1.5 months to 17 years old were included in the study...

BACKGROUND: The study objectives were: (1) to field test potential repellency of common essential oils against several pestiferous social wasps (Hymenoptera: Vespidae), using attractant-baited traps; (2) to identify vespid antennally active compounds from the repellent essential oils; (3) to determine potential repellency of these electroantennographic detection (EAD) active compounds in the field. RESULTS: Of the 21 essential oils tested, 17 showed significant repellency on yellowjackets [mainly Vespula pensylvanica (Saussure)] and paper wasps [mainly Polistes dominulus (Christ)]: clove, pennyroyal, lemongrass, ylang ylang, spearmint, wintergreen, sage, rosemary, lavender, geranium, patchouli, citronella, Roman chamomile, thyme, fennel seed, anise and peppermint...

The aim of study was to investigate the importance of chromosome aberration in differential diagnosis of eosinophilia and the chromosomal aberrations involved in patients with clonal eosinophilia. 65 cases of eosinophilia were collected and chromosome specimens of bone marrow cells were prepared by 24-hour culture, and G-banding technique was used for karyotyping. The results showed that out of 65 cases, chromosome 16 inversion was detected in 9 patients suspected as M(4Eo), and among the other 56 cases, 5 were detected with chromosomal aberrations (8...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the significance of quantification of WT1 mRNA for monitoring minimal residual disease (MRD) in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). METHODS: WT1 mRNA level was detected with real-time quantitative RT-PCR (RQ-PCR) technique in bone marrow samples from 15 normal subjects (NBM) and 123 AML patients. Sixty-two AML samples were also detected AML1-ETO mRNA expression by RQ-PCR. Simultaneously follow-up of WT1 and AML1-ETO levels were carried out in 50 samples from 8 AML patients...

OBJECTIVE: It was revealed that t(8; 21) (q22; q22) was one of the most common chromosomal aberrations in acute non-lymphoid leukemia. The translocation was found to be involved in the AML1 gene on the chromosome 21 and the ETO gene on the chromosome 8, and resulted in the formation of AML1/ETO fusion gene on the derivative chromosome 8. The fusion gene was a transcription factor and played a direct role in the leukemogenesis. The translocation was mainly observed in M(2), accidentally in M(4) and M(1) and rarely in MDS...

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in the detection of inv (16) (p13; q22). METHODS: Spectrum red labeled yeast artificial chromosome (YAC) clone 854E2 which spans the breakpoint cluster region in MYH11 in band 16p13 and single color interphase FISH were used to detect inv (16) in 26 cases of acute myelomonocytic leukemias (AML-M(4)), and the results were compared with that of conventional cytogenetic analysis. RESULTS: R banding karyotyping test revealed no inv (16) in 25 cases, one AML M(4Eo) case showed inv (16) by G banding...

A method for air sampling and analysis has been developed for vapors of acrylate monomers. Concentrations as low as 0.05 parts per million by volume (ppmv) can be measured, with the exception of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate which can be measured as low as 0.01 ppmv. These limits of sensitivity are based on a 60-minute sample at a flowrate of 500 cc per minute. The acrylate monomer vapor is adsorbed on activated silica gel, desorbed in acetone, and analyzed by gas chromatography using FFAP or OV-17 liquid phase columns...
